Another brother has died and it brings sadness to the entire brotherhood.
Each of us aspire to achieve the level of honor, dedication, and courage
exemplified by Officer Gray. My prayers are with the colleagues and
family of our fallen brother, and my heart is heavy for another lost hero.

Officer Gray, your watch is over now, and I hope you are looking down
upon us knowing that your sacrifice, the ultimate sacrfice, was so that
others may live there life free from the tyrany of evil. In the service of
others, you laid your life on the line and carried the burden of a torch
that others could not handle. It is our watch now, and our burden. We will
never let the fire extinguish at the hands of the criminals we have sworn
to defend against. We fight on in your name.

Rest easy my friend.

Hearing stories like this just disgust me. A totally senseless act like this one. I'm just so tired of hearing them. The lack of respect for police officers in this country is getting out of hand. We just had an officer ambushed last night, fortunately he won't be making this site.
I'm so sorry for your families pain. Time doesn't heal all wounds, but they do get better, and it will one day get easier to function again. You, your family, co-workers, and friends will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Stephan,
You will greatly missed by all who knew you. Your dedication to duty and family was exemplary, and your friendship was truly a blessing. I can reflect back to when you were first hired by your agncy how excited you were. That same excitement about your job never left you and I know you were happiest shortly after going "10-8"
I have known your family for years and I know they were as proud of you as any family could be.
To the family in Hanford, Tulare and Sacramento and to your wife and children I extend my deepest sympathy and condolences.
Peaceful Journey
Your Brother In-Law and in Law Enforcement

Warrior...we will continue the fight!

April 16, 2004

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).
Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend. Deputy Jeffrey Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

I was very sadened to sit down to watch the news last night and see that yet another law enforcement officer had been killed. Our department has lost three deputies on duty in the last three years, and one off duty. The difficulty in dealing with these tragic deaths will never go away. You have given the ultimate sacrifice and left this world doing what so many people would not have the courage to do. God bless you for the job that you did, and now watch all of us from heaven above. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and your fellow officers during this tragic time.

Another sad day! May GOD bless your family and friends, Officer Gray. My heart aches everytime I see another name on this website because I know the hurt that all these families feel. It makes me sad and angry at the same time to know there are such evil and cruel people in this world but I know God will take it from here. Thank you, Sir, for your years of dedication and service. Rest in peace!!

My heart and prayers go out to Officer Gray's family and co-workers. I have visited this site every day since we buried our niece Detroit Police Officer Jennifer Fettig (e.o.w.2-16-04).
There aren't words to express how deeply we feel about your loss. They say that time helps, but it's been 2 months ago today that we lost Jennifer and the hurt it still here. May God Bless your family and now you have a new watch in heaven.
God speed.........

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.

You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.

To the family of Officer Stephan Gray and the Merced Police Department, your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieves with you during this time. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around each of you and comfort you during this most difficult time.

To all my brothers and sisters, please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Please pray for this officer's family, agency, and friends as they struggle with this tragedy.
May God be with you every day, please remember, we are a part of the largest family in the world and when one hurts we all hurt.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice for your fellow man, your life, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.
Rest easy with our other fallen Brothers and Sisters, we have the watch now. Though our badges and uniforms may be different, our mission is the same. We will continue the fight in your honor.

Your unfortunate death bespeaks of the fallacy that every bleeding-heart liberal in the world touts that an officer must not shoot someone in the back, and doing so is unjustified. Your death mirrors a local officer's death in I believe 1996 when Ofc. Patrick Prohm of the Detroit P.D. was killed as he pursued a suspect on foot. In his incident, the suspect didn't even turn around to fire at Ofc. Prohm---he just 'winged' a shot over his shoulder, striking him in the head. I've been in this identical situation, but God happened to spare me and the bullets missed. Your death hits my heart deeply, as it reminds my own mortality, and just how close this job has brought me to the brink of death myself. My deepest sympathies go out to your family, friends, and coworkers in this dificult time. Your dedication, service, and ultimate sacrifice may be forgotten by many after this week's headlines, but not by your brothers in blue. I'll leave a posthumously given statement for you that you probably NEVER heard when you were alive---THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! Salute.
