I have worked with Isaac for 7 years and he was one of my partners on the night he was killed. He was a great friend and officer. He DID make a difference to me and many other cops. He did not hide in the station or shy away from taking on the real criminals. He was a class act both professionally and personally. He will be missed. Like the rest of our brothers and sisters on this page, he did not deserve to go out like this.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Tonight, April 11, 2004 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Isaac Espinoza who died in the line of duty just yesterday.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Officer Espinoza's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Sgt. Paul Bissonnette

When my daughter called me at 12:30 a.m. this morning, I couldn't believe my ears when she told me that Isaac had been killed. Isaac and my son-in-law were partners on SFPD for almost 9 years. That partnership was as solid as a good marriage. They trusted their lives to each other. My heart aches for his wife, his precious little girl and his mom and dad. Whenever we would visit our daughter and her family in San Francisco, Isaac would always come over just to tell us hello. He was a kind and compassionate young man and a very fine officer. Our son-in-law was not with Isaac last night and he will forever live with the loss of his partner. May you rest in peace, Isaac. I am so sad tonight because I feel like I have lost another one of my own. I pray that your family will feel the peace of Jesus as He cradles them in His loving arms and comforts them.

I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME,
MY NAME FOR ALL ETERNITY.
RECORDED HERE AT THIS HALLOWED PLACE,
ALAS, MY NAME, NO MORE MY FACE.
"IN THE LINE OF DUTY" I HEAR THEM SAY.
MY FAMILY NOW THE PRICE TO PAY.
MY FOLDED FLAG STAINED WITH THEIR TEARS,
WE ONLY HAD THOSE FEW SHORT YEARS.
THE BADGE NO LONGER ON MY CHEST,
I SLEEP NOW IN ETERNAL REST.
MY SWORD I PASS TO THOSE BEHIND,
AND PRAY THEY KEEP THIS THOUGHT IN MIND.
I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME,
AND WITH A HEAVY HEART AND BENDED KNEE,
I ASK FOR ALL HERE FROM THE PAST...

DEAR GOD LET MY NAME BE THE LAST.
