Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Michael Brandon Lassiter
Brandon sat next to me in a Radar Instructors Course in Birmingham, Al. He went out of his way to get to know everyone in the class. Good natured, down to earth kind of man. Talked alot about home and family...and his girlfriend. He dearly loved being a Police Officer. This was obvious. Like all of us he had a few "war stories" to tell, the funny and the serious type. He loved to joke around just to see people smile.
God bless this Officers family and friends and co-workers. The loss must be tremendous. My thoughts and prayers are with all who knew and miss him. He will not be forgotten.

I met Deputy Lassiter when he worked for Florala P.D.. We attended radar instructor school together last September. He seemed like a very good person and he was fun to be around. My sympathy goes out to the family and the Covington County Sheriffs Office.

I met Deputy Lassister during a radar instuctor course, during the fall of 2003, at the Jefferson County Academy Center, within Alabama. During that time, Deputy Lassister was still working for the City of Florala's Police Department. Within the first day of class, I knew that officer Lassister was the type that everybody wanted around. He made us laugh during the breaks, as well as during the classroom instruction.
Deputy Lassister made all of us laugh, from his stories about his police department, to the tires that his chief purchased for his patrol car. Without a doubt, I know that he will be missed in his part of our state.
I pray for comfort for his family, and for his co-workers from both departments.....

To the family of Deputy Sheriff Lassiter :
You are in my thoughts and prayers. I know this is a hard time not only for you but for the Dept as well. My father and his partner were both killed back in 1992 by a drunk driver. I know the pain you are feeling. Just remember that God is there for you and your family. Turn to him when you are down ... Good bless you and your family

Brandon was, to say the least, a unique individual. One of those people that everyone would instantly like. He was always quick with a smile and was glad to go out of his way for anyone. You could tell that being a police officer was his dream, his purpose and he did his best to be
the ultimate professional when dealing with everyone. Brandon had a great sense of humor and was a very good vocal impersonator. He "got" almost every dispatcher we have with his funny phone calls and his visits by the Comm Center were always fun. He had many friends in our department some closer than others...but all friends nonetheless. Brandon, you were a joy to work with and we will miss you greatly! You will live on in our hearts, our dreams and we will never forget you. I am proud to say you were my friend. I will sign off for you..."Command to all units, be advised that 2317 is 10-42 for the last time."
