Reflections for Sergeant Jeffrey Todd Hewitt

To Sgt. Hewitt's family & friends,
My heart broke this morning as I heard the tragic news on T.V. I know the pain you are feeling & the hard times you will go through. Know there are many of us who will be praying for you. Please reach out to each other and be there for each other because you can't make it through this alone. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around you and give you the strength & comfort you will need. I am taking my parents to visit the Police Memorial in D.C. this weekend and will think about Jeff (and you) while we are there. To his co-workers, please stay in contact with his widow so that his unborn child can know his/her father through you. God bless you all and watch over the remaining officers who watch over us here on earth.

REST EASY SIR FOR YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!!!!

A PART OF AMERICA DIED

SOMEBODY KILLED A POLICEMAN TODAY,
AND A PART OF AMERICA DIED.
A PIECE OF OUR COUNTRY HE SWORE TO PROTECT WILL BE BURIED
WITH HIM AT HIS SIDE.
THE BEAT THAT HE WORKED WAS A BATTLEFIELD, TOO.
JUST AS IF HE’ED GONE OFF TO WAR. THOUGH THE FLAG OF OUR
NATION WON’T FLY AT HALF MAST, TO HIS NAME THEY WILL ADD A GOLD
STAR. YES, SOMEBODY KILLED A POLICEMAN TODAY, IT HAPPENED IN
YOUR TOWN OR MINE. WHILE WE SLEPT IN A COMFORT BEHIND OUR
LOCKED DOORS.
A COP PUT HIS LIFE ON THE LINE. NOW HIS GHOST WALKS THE BEAT ON
A DARK CITY STREET, AND HE STAND AT EACH NEW ROOKIE’S SIDE, HE
ANSWERED THE CALL AND GAVE US HIS ALL, AND A PART OF AMERICA
DIED.

POEM FOR ALL LEO’S KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY!

I visit this site every day and Pray there is no new names. My heart sank yet again today as I saw the number go up. To the family and friends of Sgt. Hewitt, and the BCSO members, may God bless you and be with you in this time of sorrow. America lost another hero today. Rest in peace brother your work on earth is done; You are now 10-42, go patrol the highways of heaven and guide us all to protect and serve others safely. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten. The number of Officers we lose who leave behind expectant wives, and/or small children, is mind-numbing.

My deepest condolences to the Family, friends, and co-workers of Sergeant Hewitt.

Rest in Peace my Brother and in the knowledge that you gave your all for the well being of others. We are proud and greatful for your service and dedication to duty above and beyond the call. We promise your loved ones they are never alone...we are but a phone call away should they need us.

The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand.
I've never expected or had too much.
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.
As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's Streets. You've done your time in Hell."
