Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Michael Allen Van Kuren
Every time I see another name on this site my heart drops. The thin blue line gets thinner and thinner, hopefully God will allow the rest of us to do our jobs for a while longer, for some reason he needed this ever growing bunch of officers to come home. Make sure you let your brothers and sisters know that you appreciate them going with you into whatever you go into, serving a warrent, domestic, gunfire, etc. before you have to tell their family on a site like this. We're a small, special group of people and we're losing too many.
God Bless you Deputy Van Kuren, your family and agency.

Deputy Kuren,
I just left a reflection for your partner Deputy Burgert, I will say again, I am so sorry for the loss of these two lives. I just gave the BOLO for this and it is terribly upsetting. I am praying for your families and for the Bradford County Sheriffs Office. God Bless You and know your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

America lost another Hero today, Deputy Van Kuren, was doing his job, when a bad person took his life, it is hard as police officers to understand why something so terrible can happen, but God knows best, and I know that the Deputy is with the lord now walking those streets of gold. He died a hero and always will be remembered as one. To the family and friends, please put your Faith in God, he will help you get through this difficult time.

I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME,
MY NAME FOR ALL ETERNITY.
RECORDED HERE AT THIS HALLOWED PLACE,
ALAS, MY NAME, NO MORE MY FACE.
"IN THE LINE OF DUTY" I HEAR THEM SAY.
MY FAMILY NOW THE PRICE TO PAY.
MY FOLDED FLAG STAINED WITH THEIR TEARS,
WE ONLY HAD THOSE FEW SHORT YEARS.
THE BADGE NO LONGER ON MY CHEST,
I SLEEP NOW IN ETERNAL REST.
MY SWORD I PASS TO THOSE BEHIND,
AND PRAY THEY KEEP THIS THOUGHT IN MIND.
I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME,
AND WITH A HEAVY HEART AND BENDED KNEE,
I ASK FOR ALL HERE FROM THE PAST...
DEAR GOD LET MY NAME BE THE LAST.
