Our Greatest Fear
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
"Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again, I hold back a tear.
They patrol in the state, city, county and town,
in uniforms colored white, green, blue and brown.
The shape of their badges may vary,
but it’s a symbol that they all, proudly carry.
They leave for work with a kiss goodbye,
but some don’t come home, no matter how hard they try.
To uphold the law is the job that they pick,
with such high aspirations, why must some die so quick?
They leave behind loved ones, family and friends,
after their lives have met tragic ends.
Some die in crashes, others hearts not too stout,
too many have been lost when gunshots ring out.
Our Heavenly Father has called them home,
no more these dark streets do they roam.
Through trial and error they have given their best,
please Lord, now grant them eternal rest.
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
" Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again I hold back a tear.

Rest in Peace brother. I have been fortunate that none of my fellow brothers and sisters I graduated with from I.L.E.A., nor any officers from my department have fallen in the line of duty. Although three times in the last two years have I been notified that a companion of mine was injured in a motor vehicle accident. Two of them being my roomates from I.L.E.A., and one of them is still recovering from a serious accident that occured two weeks ago that almost claimed his life. To those reading this, PLEASE BE SAFE when you are on patrol, in pursuit, or even rolling up on a call. All the EVOC training in the world is still not enough to make us superhuman and keep us from dying in our own police cruisers. May God bless you and your family Patrolman Titus.
Watch over us and keep us safe out there.

Marlon, we at the West Precinct are all shocked and saddened by your sudden death. We all ran to your aid as hard as we could last night, but we were too late. Although a lot of us did not know you we shared the same streets together. Your career was short but I am sure you touched the lives of many. You did make a difference and you died doing what it was you loved. It is now time for you to watch over us "Blue Angel." Rest easy my brother, you did your time in hell. Peace be with you and your family. Your extended family in blue will watch over your family. God bless.
