Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Perry Austin Fillmore
Every time I see another name on this site my heart drops. The thin blue line gets thinner and thinner, hopefully God will allow the rest of us to do our jobs for a while longer, for some reason he needed this ever growing bunch of officers to come home. Make sure you let your brothers and sisters know that you appreciate them going with you into whatever you go into, serving a warrent, domestic, gunfire, etc. before you have to tell their family on a site like this. We're a small, special group of people and we're losing too many.
God Bless you Deputy Burgert, your family and agency.

Bum, rest easy knowing that your friends are taking care of me the way you would take care of them. They liked you because you were a good deputy, but they love you because you were a good friend. You always did underestimate the profound effect you had on people. I miss you so much. Love, Bobby

My Perry Emptyless,
Yesterday I stood there with our Co Workers, Friends and your Family as we all said goodbye to you. Driving from the Sheriffs Office to the Church was a sight to see. Then when we got to the Church and there were Police Cars all around it was truley amazing. I have never seen so many Police Officers in One place, and it was all for you buddy. You touched so many people and it showes.
You were a Great Friend and Partner to everyone. I want to take a minute to tell you Thank you from the bottom of my Heart. You were a BEST Friend and PARTNER, to the most important person in my life, My Big Brother and Best Friend. Perry, Thank you soo much for being there for him. I knew that you would have done anything to take care of him, and he would have done the same for you. Yesterday was the toughest day of his life, as he laid you to rest. Im doing my best to take care of him and make sure he is OK. Now, I tell him every single time I talk to him that I Love Him (and you and I both know how much he likes that). How I wish I would have told you Tuesday night at the Wheel that I Loved You. Never in a million years would I have thought that would have been our last conversation. Now I remember every word you said to me that night. After you told me Good-Bye you told me you would see me Friday night. Perry, Im still waiting for you.
As Dispatched called your number on the radio, for your final call, I waited to hear your always cheery voice answer, ... ... ... and when you didn't I looked at him and he was cring, I knew then that you were never coming back to us. A slight breeze blew by us all and I knew your were 10-42 and loving it.
As for Bob, Mick, Chris, Chad, Jason, and Doug, ... ... ... I know that the road will never be the same for them without you. But you watch over them from above and I will do my very best to take care of them all. May you rest in Peace my Friend. I will take care of our brothers now for as long as I can.
~1903 will always belong to you my Friend.
I Love you.
