Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Officer Logan for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.
For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.
IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure John did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and John be the last to die this way.
Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Officer Logan's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all, especially to his wife. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you.
Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that John is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain John was well respected and well loved.
Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiance Dennis for me.
Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!

"In The Line of Duty"
What is the meaning of "In The Line Of Duty"
It means that an officer made the Ultimate sacrifice.
It means that someone took an officer's life.
A hero has fallen.
Officers who gave their all
To protect and serve
Have been killed by someone whom they swore
To protect and serve.
It means that their badge will no longer be on their chest
And they will join
"The Best Of The Best"
It means that family and friends are left behind
To deal with the lost of a loved one.
Only having the memories of that loved one
Close to their hearts.
Something no one can ever take away.
It means that family members will stand at the officers grave
And wonder why ...
Why would someone take an officer's life
And leave them there to die?
If we only knew.
Today an officer will place their badge on their chest
To fulfill the dreams of heroes killed

God Be With John and his family. His Aunt Shirley is my best friend and Ive known John since he was a very young man and he was always the young man all of these people talk about it.
This poem came to me tonight to send to my best friend to try to soothe her broken heart.I hope you like it.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF JOHN LOGAN
You gave you're life for all of us.
You risked you're life each day.
You wore that badge that made us fear,
That you wouldnt return home that day.
You were loved by so many people.
You're family, you're friends,Those in Blue.
You made our hearts feel full.
You take our love to Heaven.
And do what our GOD would have you do.
You're now watching over us with the angels.
You're now watching us now with love.
You're laughing and shedding a few tears.
Since you cant touch us from above.
But you touch us everday with your memory.
We can smile cause you were such a GOOD man.
You made us all so very proud.
And now your in God's hands.
Your good looks and handsome smile just warmed our hearts.
Each time we saw your face.
Your friends in blue could trust you when their life your hands they'd placed.
Well John we just wanted you to know how much we love you.
And how so very much we cared.
And that we look forward to the day when God calls us.
To take our place up there.
We know that you'll be waiting, for us to join you there.
To be another Angel,in that beautiful place we'll share.

BADGE # 403 BY Barb Robertson, Lufkin, Tx
Everyday that he lived...he vowed to protect and serve.
Today he paid the ultimate price.
Badge # 403 laid down his life.
Bless him, Dear Lord, for he has fallen.
He answered the call.
We bid farewell to the bravest soul of all.
He worked with pride and sacrifice
with very little sleep,
It was his duty and honor,
A vow he must keep.
Bless him, Dear Lord, for he has fallen.
Badge # 403 answered the call.
We bid farewell to the bravest soul of all.
He started many days responding to calls unknown.
Everyday, every hour, his life was at risk.
But he went without fear, knowing his mission was clear.
Bless him, Dear Lord, for he has fallen.
Badge # 403 answered the call.
We bid farewell to the bravest soul of all.
We remember the good times...
your laugh...your smile...
your good nature, and all your days here.
But your time ended much too soon...and
We'll never really understand the reasons why.
But your mission must have been complete...
for God sounded the trumpet...
and you took the path where he
reserved for you...a seat.
We will never forget...nor is this Goodbye...
...Just until we meet again...
When God calls us to home, in the sweet by and by.
We shall meet on that shore...
and embrace you once more.
In his hour of death, He was embraced and
called to come home, with the Saints in Blue,
In Glory Everlasting, Eternally Lord, with you.
Upon the Throne of Heaven
Beside the Great "I AM"
He sits with Wings of Blue,
and a Badge of Honor so True.
Bless him Lord, for he has fallen.
Badge # 403 answered the call.
We bid farewell to the bravest soul of all.

Mrs. Logan, I am so saddened to hear of the loss of another hero. I too lost my husband after just 5 months of marriage in a tragic motor vehicle accident.
Your husband made the ultimate sacrifice and God is taking special care of him. Always keep him alive in your heart and in your memories. He is always with you as he is your new guardian angel while he is patrolling the highways of heaven. You and your husband as well as your families will remain in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time in your lives.

For Officer Logan:
Another sad and tragic day for law enforcement. Your death diminshes
us all. Thank you for your selfless service and sacrifice. It is a
long road to healing that lies ahead, but I know that our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ will extend His mercy and comfort to all who reach out to
Him. There is none greater than He. We don't get to Heaven based on
what we do, but what He did for us!! AMEN! There is now a huge void
that cannot be filled. God be with all those who mourn and may His
promises lift all those with heavy hearts for many years to come.
