made to keep us and our community safe.

Jason was one of the sweetest people I ever met. He always had a smile on his face and never an unkind word about anyone. He was so very excited about becoming a father and loved his wife Joni more than I can describe. He will be sadly missed by all. And I just hope people realize the sacrifice he made to protect others.

May God be with this family and allow you a peace that passes all understanding. May HE send angels to protect Jason's unborn child, as well as his widow, parents and family. May HE give courage to the officers Jason served with and may they be truly blessed and protected. I'm sure all of your lives have been blessed by having know this young man. I served many years in Oklahoma, and now have a son serving at Clinton PD, TN. I pray daily for him and all those who serve and protect. God be with you.

In June 1991 I graduated the United States Marine Corps boot camp and was given the title of "Marine". Our motto...
"SEMPER FIDELUS"... It stands for "ALWAYS FAITHFUL". I ve tried to explain to people that the title of "Marine" is not a title, that it more of an Emotion...A Sense of Brotherhood..A sense of Family. Since 1993 Ive been a full time Police Officer and in our line of work it is just the same brotherhood as being a Marine. Deputy Jason Scott did his job and gave his life by being like a Marine, by being "Always Faithful"...
May God place a hedge of protection around the Scott Family
and Loudon County Sheriff's Department. Semper Fi..

Words cannot express the pain & heartbreak felt by all who are aware of your great loss...we are all with you in the grief. Some are still journeying toward realizing that God does not allow us to experience more than His Grace will see us thru. It's my prayer that we will allow Him to do that thru the many hearts who want to help. As I progress on my journey I've been encouraged & blessed by so many different sources, one of which the author is unknown (to me) The Broken Chain. We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide;& tho we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, & nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the Chain WILL LINK AGAIN.! With heartfelt sympathy from Johnson City surviving Mom of CHP Officer Dean Beattie EOW 11/19/03

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

I am a friend of Jason. I ride along with another P.D. in Loudon County and I have seen first hand how the officers give there time and live for people they dont even know. I have seen tears and hugs from people who did not even know Jason. I worked a wreak with Jason and another officer of the LCSD. Jason was a guy you just had to love. He will be missed by me and I know all of Loudon County S.D., Lenoir City P.D., Loudon P.D. and all the other P.D.(s) and S.D.(s) of this area. I hope that his family and friends will be strong.
