Dear Ofcr Liz,
I did my probation in Newton Division back in 2007, as a lot of LAPD officers know, it can be a tough place to work in. But I loved working there and it didn't take long before I heard your name. All the old school P3's and tenure P2's spoke the world of you. My best friend was in the 11-01 class & ended up wheeling to Newton in '03 around the same time you did. He also described you as a hard charging P2 with a tremendous sense of loyalty to your fellow brother and sister officers.
I feel cheated that I never got the chance to meet you, however after reading all these incredible comments about you on this website & remembering the stories my training officers recanted of you, it feels like you never left Newton...and you never will because you touched so many people in such a positive way. Believe it or not, your experiences and stories helped me a lot while going through probation, and it motivated me keep on working hard and not give up even when there were days that I wanted to.
Everytime I walked into the station, I saw your shrine and huge picture. I would stare at it, and walked up the stairs to the locker room, saying a prayer on your behalf and to help me come back safe to my family.
Since your unfortunate passing that dreadful day on Feb 20, 2004, our dept has lost many more officers and it's never easy to cope with those losses. I just wanted to let you know that you are not forgotten and your legacy will continue on for years to come. Every back up, every help call, you are watching over us from heaven. May God bless your family and may your life be remembered in eternity. I will meet you one day brother, rest in peace Officer Lizarraga KMA-367.

Ofc. Lizarraga,
We've never met though strangely I met your cousin by accident the week before the 2010 Newton St. Memorial ride. Your portrait was in the office of my new house and he noticed it, I told him how I was painting you for the memorial ride. He told me what happened and how much your family misses you, especially your father. It was one of those unique Los Angeles moments, I guess. I wasn't there to see them give your portrait to your father but I was told he was pleased with it. You are so much loved and remembered, I'm sad I never got a chance to meet you. God bless your family and thank you for your service.

Officer Lizarraga - Yours was the final funeral detail I participated in, as a member of the LAPD Honor Guard. It was the very least I could do, for you, a cop who gave everything he had for a community member in trouble. I heard the help call on my radio, stuck on the 101 Freeway northbound I could see the helicopters circling the call many miles away.
Thanks for your service to the people of Los Angeles. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.

yo brother, it's hard to believe that year number 6 is upon us. it's crazy in that even after 6 years we still all think about you and talk about you all throughout the day everyday. it's no secret how much you are missed by eveyone, and what kind of an imprint you left on this place and on all us. you got it right. lived life the right way. because of that you will never be forgotten and you will always be loved. we're thankful that you look out for us from above, but the truth is you're needed down here to maintain order, to teach us a thing or two, and to share a smile. wish you were here.

I was glad to hear that your mom is doing much better. When that happened, I could not understand how your family could absorb so much pain. I think we will come out in February and visit. I think you know where we will have lunch.

In Memory of Our Fallen Heroes
Like falling leaves the
Years drift by, but our
Fond memories of you
Will never die.
In our hearts you will
Always stay, loved and
Remembered every day.
Unseen, unheard, you are
Always near, still loved,
Still missed, still very dear.
We miss you brother.

hi ricardo, been a while since i last visited your page...its been a crazy past few months and we continue to miss you greatly. Mom is doing very well and im not sure how we would have overcome this with out the support of the LAPD. They were with us from start to finish and continue keeping her well being in their minds. You must have meant so much to them for them to continue taking care of the family. Its true when they say anything you need and we will be there, they have sure shown it. I love you always and you are in my heart forever. missing you dearly brother.
