I did not know Matt very well, but I did enjoy the times we had together while at Mobile Police Department. He is missed, and thought about often...

Lee Ann, I still remember the good father and husband Matt was. I enjoyed working with Matt in Chickasaw and then I got to work with him in Mobile. So I was double blessed to know Matt. I have not forgotten you and the (grown) children and Matt.

Miss you so much.!!!! Have you been talking to these grandbabies? They tell us they have been talking to you. It really puts chills on our spine when the babies say " I am talking to PaPa Matt and we are talking about JESUS. Really don't know what to think about that. They are only 20 months old, so I don't know...... Gosh, I wish I could talk to you..
I love you!!!

Matt,
I took over your squad after your departure. All the old members are gone now. Cpl Dickerson was the last, and he has gotten himself promoted to sergeant and runs his own squad now. I didn't know you real well back in the day, but I often think about you as I go about the business of running 2nd squad. The department has changed since those days, most of the faces are new. I still have that ugly mug that was left on the desk when I got here. I think of you each time I look at it, and I feel you here when there are hard choices to be made. RIP my brother, your squad soldiers on.

Nine years seems like a life time in some ways and only yesterday in others. Just wanted to let you know that we thank you for your service and we will never forget your scarifice.
Lee Ann and family, I know how hard this day is for all of you, just know there are a lot of people who will be thinking about you and keeping you all in thier prayers. Know that we've come to know each other with the way our Officers died, we will always have that bond. Thank you for helping me along this path that no one wants to go. Love you all...
