A Police Officer's Prayer: O, Gentle Lord! Keep the day/night watch with me.As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among yourpeople.Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone.May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties.Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent on me for life and safety.Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted.Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for me presence.Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectivelky when called upon for assistance. Lord,I ask that I may return safely , after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth ,may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well.AMEN This prayer is extended to your department's brother officers and your loved ones;in your memory.Rest in peace. Sent to you by the father of Officer J.D.Koeppen,Capitol City Raleigh NC and Trooper D.C.Koeppen,New Jersey State Police .

Policeman's Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commission of Police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's
premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgement.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so please God, your hard knocks the so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God, as we have been to guard the city of men.
Amen
Mark,
Through your dedication to your profession you became an inspiration to many of us. You will be missed by all of us at Wake County.
