Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Investigator Mark Reid Tucker

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Mark did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Mark be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Investigator Tucker's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all, especially to his wife. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Mark is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Mark was well respected and well loved.

Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiance Dennis for me.

Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!

I never thought it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray to keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last

""North Carolina Law Enforcement Memorial""

We have lost another warrior in our department. Thank you Tucker for your loyality in our profession, your 28 years, the way your wore your badge and your dedication to duty. Watch out for us down here brother.

My heart goes out to the family of Invetigator Tucker. I did not personally know Investigator Tucker, however we are all brothers and sisters. As I was visiting the Officer down memorial page, listening to my kids call out"daddy" I wonder if he has kids who will be calling for him. We take so much for granted.I saw that the suspect was in custody, I hope Justice will be served. It's a shame that he only had two years to retire, I'm sure he was an outstanding officer for his department and a person who will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and fellow officers. I will pray that God will strengthen everyone affected by his loss.

Mark, I have known you a long time. I can't believe that God took such a fine lawman and human being away from us. It is incomprehensible to me that three of Wake Countie's finest are no longer with us, in such a short span of time. Your memory will always be with me...

ANOTHER SOLDIER FELL TODAY

Another soldier fell today
Not fighting in Iraq but
Fighting in a war that has been going on much longer

Another soldier fell today
CNN will not cover the story
This soldier just as important if not more important
fighting in a war much closer to home

Another soldier fell today
How many people will know
A true hero died trying to protect our own

Another soldier fell today
A true hero in my eyes
Not fighting in a foriegn land but here at home
It was not the enemy that was fighting to protect their country
But an enemy trying to take something that did not belong to them

Another soldier fell today
May God Bless him, his family, and friends
These are true heros who do not fight for fame and fortune
But fight to protect the citizens of our land
From an enemy that looks just like us

Another soldier fell today
How long must we fight this loosing war
A war against crime on our own streets
Against an enemy that keeps coming back

Another soldier fell today.....

DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY OF INVESTIGATOR MARK REID TUCKER.

Our Greatest Fear

Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,

an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.

"Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,

and once again, I hold back a tear.

They patrol in the state, city, county and town,

in uniforms colored white, green, blue and brown.

The shape of their badges may vary,

but it’s a symbol that they all, proudly carry.

They leave for work with a kiss goodbye,

but some don’t come home, no matter how hard they try.

To uphold the law is the job that they pick,

with such high aspirations, why must some die so quick?

They leave behind loved ones, family and friends,

after their lives have met tragic ends.

Some die in crashes, others hearts not too stout,

to many have been lost when gunshots ring out.

Our Heavenly Father has called them home,

no more these dark streets do they roam.

Through trial and error they have given their best,

please Lord, now grant them eternal rest.

Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,

an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.

" Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,

and once again I hold back a tear.

Rest Easy Brother Mark, the Watch is Ours Now and Yours was with Honor. Our Thoughts and Prayers are
with your Family, Friends and Co-Workers.

Mark,
It was 2 days ago when I saw you last. When you said you had to back to your office. When I told you I'd see you later. I did not mean........
Well, anyway, please watch over us all. You and your family will always remain in our prayers. On 12 Feb 04, the Wake Co citizens, WCSO, and the "Law Enforcemnt Family" lost one of the best officers that we have to offer. Thanks for all of the sacrifices you have made throughout your career. You will never be forgotten.
