Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Brian Robert Litz
To say that, Deputy Sheriff Brian Robert Litz, did his best, is to say a great deal, for surely he was an expert in the art of public service.
His "givenness" will inspire future law enforcement personnel to accept his values as a gift from the past, a gift which they in their turn can pass on to succeeding generations.
I knew Deputy Litz fleetingly, but, he struck me as one of those people who are all too rare in every generation, an individual who adds to the quality of the life of those fortunate enough to meet him.
God Bless him.
God Bless his family.

But now says the Lord that created thee...I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned.
For I am the Lord your God. Isaiah 43

Deputy Litz,
I have read so many inspiring reflections in the past 30 minutes and I have yet to read them all. Many of them come from members of your dept, that in itself shows the dedication of your co-workers, your friends. All I can say is Godspeed Brother! Rest assured your family will be well taken care of. We have the streets from here.

I remember the first time i met Brian, he was brand new and riding with his fto. I asked Deputy Hart hows he doing? And he immediatly replied "he's gonna be a good one". And what an understatement that turned out to be. Brian and I worked midnights for a while, and he always backed me up when i needed it, and at times just showed up without me calling. When i think of Brian, I see a dedicated professional, and one of the most squared away deputies ive ever had the pleasure to associate with. When i saw Brian in action as an fto, I saw someone that went the extra mile with a recruit, and an fto that cared what kind of deputy he was putting on the road for his department. When i made sgt, Brian always referred to me as sarge, even though we worked at different departments, and even after i insisted he call me larry. Im not sure ill ever be able to get used to Brian and Justice not showing up at my traffic stops, or checking up on my guys anymore. Those of us who worked with Brian at the Belleview PD will never forget him, and it was our honor to have served with him.

Brian Litz was a man that practiced what he preached. He was my Field Training Officer at Marion County Sheriff's Office and he taught me that my job was to go home safely to my family everynight. I have never seen a man who loved his family and his job with so much passion. I can't put into words how Brian has impacted my life by teaching me how to stay alive in this dangerous job. Brian still lives on in all who knew him. Brian, thank you for being the best FTO I ever had and thank you God for blessing us with such a good man. God Bless you and your family.

Brian was known for being a very kind and thoughtful person. And this characteristic trait has made an impact in all of our lives in some certain way. Brian loved life and was always willing to go that extra mile to make a difference. He was an example for all of us and he will not be forgotten. We pray for you Brian that you may rest in peace and for your family and friends to be comforted in their times of need. May God bring peace, healing and love during these grieving moments. I will always reflect to your personal message on your K-9 baseball card Brian, 'What we do today shall echo in eternity'. Amie

Remember The Officers
We remember the officers who changed our lives,
The men and woman who protected us day and night,
People who are respected for their dedication to the cause,
For when faced with danger, they never even pause.
We remember the officers who always stood true,
Whatever the color of uniform, brown, gray, green or blue,
With pride and integrity they say "To serve and protect",
For the giving of their life, we offer our respect.
We remember the officers who we never really knew,
Persons strong enough to answer the challenge are few,
With heavy hearts we mourn the officers in eternal rest,
There's more to these people than the badge on their chest.
Although we did not KNOW Deputy Litz both my husband and I have been on many scenes with him. He always had a smile and time to say hello and chat.
Our deepest sympathy and prayers for Deputy Litz' family, including his Sheriff's Office family.
The emergency service agencies, police, fire and EMS all work closely together. Law enforcement secures the scene so EMS and fire personnel can treat the sick and injured and secure all fire hazards. When Deputy Litz was on scene crew felt secure knowing he was one of the best. He will be missed by all of us.
To Law Enforcement Officers left behind. When you are on scene with EMS and Fire personnel you are appreciated. Your presence gives us peace of mind so we can do our jobs without watching our backs too. We know you are doing that for us. Thank you all for your dedication.

Fear no more the heat o' the day,
nor the furious winter's rages;
Thou, thy earthly work is done,
Home art gone, and taken thy wages;
Golden lads and girls all must,
as chimney sweeps, come to dust.

Brian,
The phone call did not seem real or make any sense, as I stood there in complete shock hearing that you were deceased.
It was just yestrday we were playing Tee ball together and I was falling out of the tree in your parents backyard. The great times we had growing up will never be forgotten!
Our recent lives may have been separated by many miles, but your Mom & Dad kept us informed of your many accomplishments along with your love of your family and career.
I just want to say, you will be truely missed by all your family and friends. Your family will always be in our hearts and prayers.
Love,
Your Cousin Todd
