Reflections for Trooper Bertram Zimmerman, III

Bert,

I can't believe it has been 20 years since you have gone. You have missed so many things over the years, and it breaks my heart when you are not there. One of the biggest was when Michelle got married last year, two days after your birthday!! Joey was the life of the wedding. He takes exactly after you! Next week we are going to one of our favorite vacation places growing up, the Outer Banks. We will be there for your birthday. We will be taking your picture and taking some family pictures. I love you and miss you more every day!

Bert,

I can't believe it has been 13 years since you left us. It seems like yesterday. You have missed so many things since you have been gone. One of the biggest was that Michelle graduated college in May, and this month she is going to apply for the New Jersey State Police. She wants to follow in your footsteps. Please continue to watch over everyone as you have done over the past thirteen years.

Bert,

Tomorrow I will be leaving for the COPS Walk. As you know it is my 7th year. You would love this so much. You loved the outdoors and everything about it. Unfortunately I will be adding three troopers to my back pack this year. Please look out for them. It is supposed to be a beautiful weekend!! I love you and miss you more every day.

Bert,

Please take care of Anthony as he joins you in Heaven. It has been a sad four days since Anthony's tragic accident. It saddens me that another family has to go through what we have gone through and continue to go through. Thank goodness for family, friends, the Survivors of the Triangle, and everyone in the NJSP. They are always there for us. You could not have worked for a better organization. They have always lived up to their motto, "We will never forget." They are always there for us when we need anything.

Tragedies like this bring back the day you went to Heaven. It seems like it happened yesterday. I can't believe it has been 11 years. What saddens me the most is that your picture stays young, and I am getting older. I miss you more and more each day. Please watch over Joey and Michelle. Joey is so much like you. He fears nothing! I love you and miss you, and some day we will be together again.
