Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Nicholas Kevin Sloan

It seems like you were really special to many people. I hope to see more people leave reflections as I am sure this helps your wife, son, and family to remember the special moments shared with you. You seem like you were an outstanding officer. I wish I had a moment to share with you myself.

Nick,
Thank you for taken care of everything yesterday. I knew you would be there, thank grandma and Josh's dad too. I should have known they would be there with you. Tell them thanks for the signs. I love getting them from all of you. I love you and miss you so much. Talk to you soon.

Until we meet again,

Nick,
Please be with us today. Please hold Bobby's hand for me, while I can't. I know everything will be fine, I just worry. I can hear you saying " It's going to be fine, I'll be with him while you can't." I love you so much.

Thank you,
Until we meet again,

Just wanted to say hi and that I was thinking about you. There has been a lot of violence lately and I just wish people could respect officers a little more. You will NEVER be forgotten. We all miss you so much! Please help all of us through our hard times and hard days. I will always be here for your family, Kirsten, and gavin. I miss you so much! You mean a lot to everyone! Toby Keith is here tonight and he always shows his respect to you and the rest of St. Louis' finest! I did not go this year, but he always says that. I miss you!

Nick,
Please be with Amy and her family. They are really going to need it. Please help Michael out up there, show him the ropes. Have him send his family a lot of signs, they will need it.
I love and miss you so much. I pray every night, that no one else will have to feel the pain we feel everyday. I know everything happens for a reason, I just wish I knew what that reason was.
I love you little brother.

Until we meet again...

Love you,

I just wanted to say I miss you and love you so much.
I think of you everyday. Bobby has been asking why you had to go to Heaven with God. I just tell him that everyone has there own special day to go live with God. When God came for Uncle Nick he had a special job for the best police officer. I told him that someday we will all live in Heaven together. He really misses you, even though he only knew you for such a short time. We talk about you everyday. He has been looking at pictures of you from when you were his age. He is too cute.

I love you little brother,

Until we meet again...

Nick,

I've often thought about you and your family. I think what would you be doing now.

My son Jeff may be going on soon, and I am asking and praying that you will watch over him.

I hope I'm not asking too much of you, please watch over all of the young officers and keep them safe.

I am sorry that you left us when and the way you did. I didn't get to see you that day and mess with youand your partner.

You are missed and will never be forgotten.

Bye Nick

Hey Nick!
I can't believe the kids are getting so old! I know Gav starts school this week. The girls started last week! I was very proud of both of them! Especially Sky, you know she's like her dad(not very social)! They looked adorable in their little uniforms! Keep them safe! My girlfriend came up with a plan that if we raise all of our kids as nerds they won't get into so much trouble!! Sounds like a plan! Love you! Michelle

Nick,
The other night when we left Wal-mart, Bobby looked up to the sky and said "Mommy, I want to go all the way up in the sky, so I can see my Uncle Nick in Heaven." He misses you as much as we do. I can't believe he had just turned one when you were taken from us. We all love you so much.

Until we meet again,

Nick,

Thanks for everything. I love you and miss you so much. The pain of losing you will never go away. You are the first thought on my mind every morning and the last thought as I go to bed at night. I wish you were still here with us. I love you.

Until we meet again,

Love you,

Nick-
Thanks you for the visits that you still make to Dad, Mom, Heather and me. They make us so happy. If we can't have you here in person, then this is the next best thing. I know you heard the talk that Gavin had with me. How do you explain to a 3 1/2 year old why his daddy can't come back from Heaven even for just a minute to see us and give us hugs and kisses? I hope that I said everything to Gavin that you wanted me to. I tried to think of what you would have told him. I love the fact that whenever Gavin spends the night with us that he remembers to do his special good night to his Daddy.

I know that you also visit Gavin, Bobby and Payton. It makes me so happy that the kids can somehow still have a connection with you.

Well, keep watching over all of us and send us your signs. Please be with James and Josh. I know that your death is very hard on them and yet they try not to show me and Heather how upset they are that you are gone because they are trying to help us. They both said that you were just like their brother and not brother in law.

I love you forever and always,
Kel

Give Kirsten an extra sign or something so she knows you are spending her birhtday with her and Gavin Saturday. They miss you so much.

August 17, 2006

Nick,
I'm sure you miss your family just as much as they are missing you...what a special family you have.

Your family is there for everyone, as we all try to find our way through this difficult time. Their kindness and constant support is so appreciated. As I read the many reflections left by family and friends, I know why you were so special...you came from such wonderful people.

Even though we didn't know you, we've grown to love you...you are missed and loved every minute of every day by so many. Each time we visit the cemetery, we visit you and say a prayer. When we look at your picture, we too can't believe you're gone... You were so much like Bob...so we know the pain your family feels, we see the loss in the eyes of his sisters, the emptiness as we move through each day.

Please have a beer with Bob and find some way to help us all. Bless you Nick...

Hey Nick- I hope you are doing okay up there with Joe and all your other buddies you've met. We all really miss you so much here. I talked to your mom tonight and she was telling me that Gavin mentioned something about riding his daddy's tractor. That is so funny! I was cracking up and asked your mom if they ever got a seat for it. She said they did, and they were going to see if it worked. When I was talking to your mom, it really made me sad because I don't know how she or anyone in your family gets through every day. I'm sure they enjoy talking to your friends and hearing stories about you. They are so proud of you! Your mom, dad, sisters, Kirsten, and Gavin have got to be some of the strongest people I know. Well, I need to go to bed so I will talk to you later. Say hi to Joe for me.

Nick,
You are so blessed by your family. Today was so,so hard for us and yet they were there and ready to offer their comfort.
I couldn't be there for my brothers mass - but talking to my family and reading the messages from your family REALLY helped. I really appreciate the support. I hope that we can offer them a little of the comfort they give us. god bless you, bob and my uncle stu & cousin dan. Nick,
Please be with Officer Stanze and his family today. They will need all of our love and support. I love you and miss you so much.

I'll see you again someday...
Love you,
Heather

I got an e-mail the other day with this saying on it, and I thought of you.

People will forget what you said,
People will forget what you did, but
People will never forget how you made them feel.

From what everyone has said, I think you made everyone very happy. I know you always made all of us very happy. You always had something nice to say.

Love you

Congratulations! Should sing like music to my ear.
Instead it's become the last word that I want to hear.

It's such an exciting time,as we expand our family.
You see getting pregnant does not come easily to me.

So why does such a happy word, make me feel so blue?
Because where my healthy baby grows...
I started out with two.

Nick,
It has been a really rough couple of days. Please tell Grandma to take care of my baby until I can. I know God's plan doesn't always work out like we think it should. I love you all. Keep us under your watch! Love, Michelle

Hey Nick,
As you know last weekend was float trip weekend. We had a blast as usual, but I have moments of sadness out there every year when I see all of the people around your age and I think how nice it would be to see you laughing, hoisting a beer, and just enjoying the fun and sun. Everyone misses you so much, but we know that both your being here for a short time and you leaving for a greater life are all part of the plan. I guess that really is why they call it faith. Take care.

All My Love,

Hey Nick!

Well thanks for putting a good word in! I'm sure your chuckling to yourself, that seems to be the reaction we get as we've been spreading the news that were expecting our SECOND set of Twins! Everyone seems to bust into laughter! We are really excited (I wanted two). The girls are such good friends I didn't want the 3rd to be left out! Keep us in your prayers! I always said I wanted 5 kids, but I better stop at 4 before Mike leaves me!!!
We Love You! Mike, Michelle,Sky Sky,Kenna,& baby G's

Hey Nick! I just have to tell you that you have the cutest son ever! I know you already knew that, but I had to tell you. Gavin came over yesterday and stayed the night here. He kept saying that he was going to sleep in mommy and daddy's room. Well, that didn't happen cause he started jumping on the air matress that was in the living room and I knew there was no stopping him from that. That's where he wanted to sleep. I can't get over how much he looks and acts like you. I mean, he is a mini Nick. Kirsten was looking through our old high school yearbooks and showing Gavin all of your pictures. He was so proud to say, "That's my daddy!" He kept saying that over and over. Even though he was so young when you were taken from all of us, he knows what a great daddy you were and continue to be. There are so many people that will share so many stories with him as he gets older. I know you will always be with him and guide him through life.
Well, I will talk to you later. Say hi to Joe for me. Keep watching out for all of us!
