This still sucks so many years later. I'm still here. I checked on Deb the other night. She's ok. I still remember when you used to call on a pay phone using 911 saying there is a house on fire you asshole. I love you and miss you even though we really never had a chance to get to no eachother. Its been 7 years since I got on. I get to train the new guys now. Believe that. Didn't think so since I sucked in dispatch. Miss you Tom. Keep us safe would ya. Miss you old man.

Dear Tom
As I read the front page another office has fallen in the line of duty. It is on the same date that took you and B from us.(How SAD). It just really sucks. I just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you again and that you are missed.

Tom,
It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since you left the streets of Mishawaka for the streets of Heaven. It's been 19 years since we went to the academy together. Seems like yesterday. Please continue to keep an eye on us down here.

Dear Brother
Well five years now how past since you where taken from us.Tonight Ann,Larry and Sue, Peggy and Karl,Lisa, Deb, Mike,Rachel and I went to the Police station to place a wreath at the memorial to remember the tragic night when Bryan and you where killed. After we placed the wreath we sang a song and them we went to get pizza.
Not a day goes by when I think about you and how much you are missed. How much I miss you calling me or I'm calling you about Notre Dame football. Well this year you and I would haved worn out are phones compaining about how bad the Irish played the last seven game of the season. And yes the "Old Blue Bus" is still running.
Well its late and I am headed off to bed. Tom you are not forgotten and never will be.
Love always your brother Gary

i Tom. Its me again. I rode tonight with the parade. And it sucks. Every time we go by the station it is just not right. I am so impressed by the people who still give a shit and stand out by there houses and salute a fallen officer. It may not be in the line of duty, but It is still an OFFICER.I think that EVERY OFFICER who dies still should get the respect that a fallen officer gets. This is the most toughest job that anyone could have and the JOB NEEDS TO BE RESPECTED.I GIVE ALL MY RESPECT TO ANY POLICE OFFICER THAT HAS TO DEAL WITH SCUM ON THE STREETS. ALL OFFICERS ARE TRUE IN BLUE. NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT A FINE LINE UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN THERE.LOVE YOU TOM

CURLY SUE: HAHA! WOW WHAT MEMORIES THAT NAME BRINGS BACK! GOSH ~ NO LIVING SOUL COULD EVER IMAGINE HOW HARD IT IS TO GO ON LIVING WITHOUT SUCH A GREAT PERSON UNLESS THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH IT!WHEN WE LOST YOU, WE LOST A GREAT CHUNCK OF OUR HEART. NOTHING HAS EVER AND WILL NEVER BE THE SAME, ESPECIALLY DEB. SHE GOES ON LIVING HER LIFE, BUT I SEE HOW EMPTY SHE IS INSIDE. PLEASE HELP HER AND GUIDE HER TO FIND PEACE AND PURE HAPPINESS AGAIN. WE ALL LOVE AND MISS YOU, MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY.

I was working as a Jail Officer on the night of December 13, 2003 at the St. Joseph County Jail in South Bend, IN. I vividly remember hearing the horrifying call of an officer down over the radio. I am now in training to become a police officer, and tomorrow I will formally dedicate the day of training for my academy class to this fallen hero. My heart and prayers go out to the family of Corporal Roberts, as well as to the family of Patrolman Verkler, may our fallen heros rest in peace. Amen.
