TO the family, loved ones, friends, and fellow officers of Trooper Lumley,

My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of your loss. I am thankful who put their lives on the line daily to protect all of us. I understand your loss. My love was run over and killed last November. Please know there are people out here who are willing to help. I am surely leaning on a lot of people myself now. I will hold all of you in my thoughts and in my prayers.

My thoughts, prayers, and hugs go out to all of you.

Trooper Lumley, I know I have heard your name before and I'm fairly certain I even spoke to you on the phone once. Even as a dispatcher I feel the bond w/ officers that you guys do...maybe not as strongly, but it IS there. I worry about my guys out on the street and pray that they'll stay safe every day...and I mourn for officers that are lost in the line of duty everyday, too. Though they may not be MY officer they ARE somebody's officer, mother, father, sister, brother, husband, wife, son, daughter.

I do my best to make sure my officers stay safe when I'm on duty and have been fortunate so far except for some scrapes and bruises suffered in fights. But scrapes and bruises heal and, with time, so do our hearts eventually. Rest in Peace, Trooper Lumley...your brothers in Georgia will take it from here as you watch over them.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am a widow of a fallen officer. I have two girls that I have raised alone since April 24,2002. I just want to let Tony's wife know that it can be done. It is hard, and sad, and seems hopeless at times-but you will be able to do it. Stay strong sister, take care of yourself, we are here for you. Texas sized hugs are sent your way.
My thoughts go out to his family , friends and fellow officers. I know how difficult this is for all, stay together and grieve together. Take care.

To the Widow, Beautiful Daughters, and Family of Trooper Lumley:
I can't even begin to express my sorrow for your loss. As I heard that Trooper Tony had died, my heart dropped. I immediately called both of my brothers to make sure they were okay and to let them know that I loved them and was thinking about them. This is and will be, for some time, a very hard thing for you. Don't ever forget that God is there for you, right now, waiting for you to run into His arms so He can hold you, love you, and comfort you. God will always be there for you. He made you all and He considers you His treasure. My family and I ache for you and with you, and we pray for you everytime we think of you. My brothers knew Trooper Tony and I've never heard anything about him but good. We will all miss your beloved, whether we knew him or not. He definitly is a HERO and will never be forgotten.
To his Daughters:
Your daddy loves you forever! He will always look after you in heaven just as he did on earth. He is a part of you and people will see this everytime they look in your beautiful eyes. There will be tough times, but don't forget that even though you can't see him, he will always be there. Keep your chin up and remember that there is always sunshine after the storm.

My family's hearts go out to your family- with love and definitly PRAYERS

May your brothers and sisters with the GSP also manage through this time. You are a true hero. You gave your life trying to make this world a better place. Your killer will now have to face justice for taking you from all of us. GOD bless.

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Tony did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Tony be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Trooper Lumley's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all, especially to his wife. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Tony is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Tony was well respected and well loved.

Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiance Dennis for me.

Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!

Police Officer's Prayer to Saint Michael

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil, that the police officer's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all the people. Amen.

Trooper Lumley, your nobleness continues...

TROOPER LUMLEY,
Heaven needed you. Thats what I keep telling myself, and I know its true. When I first heard of the accident I could not understand why, why you had to be the one, and why the suspect was spaired. Then on that friday morning I cried tears with all the other blue-shirts. Some tears were from anger and sadness and others were from happiness, yes happiness, because you are now with Christ. This thought alone brings comfort and joy to my soul. I saw the many agencies from all over the state and country and realized how united the law enforcement family is. I know you were smiling down from the heavenly skies when the seven mile convoy of blue lights, and citizens showing their respect for you took place. I will continue to pray for misty and your two daughters, as well as your entire family. Post 1, ya'll are in my thoughts and prayers too.

Tony, I miss you and I love ya brother. I can't wait to see you when I get to heaven!
