Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Glenn Matthew Searles
JUST A NOTE TO SAY THAT I AM REMEMBERING DEPUTY SEARLES TODAY AND HIS FAMILY.
EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN 3 YEARS, I KNOW IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENED JUST YESTERDAY.
THEY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
I SAID A LITTLE PRAYER TODAY,
I ASKED DEAR GOD ABOVE
TO HEAL YOU AND PROTECT YOU,
TO SUROUND YOU WITH HIS LOVE...
I'LL KEEP RIGHT ON PRAYING
IT'S THE BEST THING I CAN DO,
FOR IN MY HEART I KNOW THAT HE
WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOU.
MAY GOD GIVE YOU THE COMFORT AND PEACE THAT YOU NEED.

Officer Searles thank you for your service and dedication. You will be missed and never forgotten. May your family, fiancée, and everyone who loves you stay strong in the memories and love you shared with them.
I lost my fiancée, Scott Stewart, in August of 2002. There not a day that goes by without him in my heart and mind. I understand the pain your fiancée must feel from being ripped from you to soon. The support and love from others who know my pain have helped tremendously.
Lyn, if you ever feel the need to reach out to others who know your pain, please contact me and other s/o. A search on yah groups will bring you to us. Just enter the below as it is.
Always remember as long as your heart beats Glenn will be with you. He’s there everyday in your heart.
Hugs,
Monica

Lyn,
I just wanted to say that it was great to meet you at Police Week this year, though I am sorry for the reason we met. I am truly sorry for the loss of your fiance and that you have to feel the same pain I felt, and still feel, in losing Dennis. From hearing you speak about Glenn, and your relationship with him. he sounds like a great guy. You were lucky to have been able to be a part of his life. It is apparent that Glenn brought a lot of love into your life. Treasure all those "little gifts" that Glenn gave you. They, combined with the love you shared, will give you a source of strength to keep moving forward in life. I wish you the best in wherever life takes you. I hope that someday you will again acheive the level of happiness that Glenn so desired for you.
Thank you for reaching out to me in your time of grief, when I needed a shoulder to cry on. Your compassion will never be forgotten. I wish you luck as you work through the loss of Glenn. Remember that if you ever need anything I am only ever a phone call, letter, or e-mail away.
Peace, love, luck, and happiness to you.

Some time has passed since you left us for a better place. Despite this passage of time, your presence is no less felt. Not a day goes by when someone doesn't speak of you or tell a "Glenn Story."
You were taken from us way too soon, but I am glad for the short time I had with you!

most people would tell you that law enforcement is a dangerous job. i never listened. I was always afriad when there was a domestic call or when i heard dispatch say use caution with someone. My husband was a little man but his size never mattered to him. He wanted to be a policeman, he wanted to make the small town we lived in a safe place for everyone. i never thought that directing traffic would be the worst thing that he could do. I just want to say to all the officers that read this "To be careful out there and watch out for other drivers and be careful so you can go home to your family" GOD BLESS

I had the honor of meeting Glenn on a DOA invest a few years back. His compassion and kindness is something I clearly remember, as I'm sure everyone he met remembers. May he rest in peace. Our prayers go out to his brothers and sisters at OCSD. Those of us riding in the 2004 Police Unity Tour will keep him close at heart and his sacrifice will never be forgotten.

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Glenn did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Glenn be the last to die this way.
Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Deputy Searles' family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all, especially to his family. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you.
Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Glenn is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Glenn was well respected and well loved.
Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiance Dennis for me.
Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!
