A Brother Warrior has fell and died today in battle.

This Brother Warrior has made the ultimate sacrifice.

He has given his life for his Fellow Warriors, his family and friends too.

Brother Warrior, pass your sword to us, so we can keep your spirit alive.

You, my Brother Warrior will not be forgotten.

God Bless you, your family and your friends.

We honor and respect all of the Fallen Warriors who have gone before us.

We ask you, Brother Warriors to guide us, protect us and pray for us.

We will meet again my Brother Warriors.

For this time not to fight another battle, but to live in eternal peace.

God bless all of the Warriors, past, present and future.

Seminole County Sheriff's Office

Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Sergeant Yancey for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.

For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.

IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

I was blessed to have known this remarkable man. I worked with John-John for five years at the Scott Co. Sheriff`s Dept. before I became a State Trooper. We became the best of friends, and talked regularly. He was without a doubt the finest man I will ever know. As good as he was on the job, he was an even better husband and father. He loved his wife and children and made it a point to tell everyone how wonderfull they are. He told me once "If you do what you love, you`ll never work a day in your life." He lost his life doing what he loved to do. I hope one day that I will be half the man he was. He touched the heart of everyoone who knew him. Durring his funeral, as we drove him to his final resting place, crowds of people lined the highways. They placed thier hand over thier broken hearts, crying, as they paid thier last respects to our fallen hero. This shining star will never be replaced. I know if John-John were with us today, he would charge into harms way again. It was his duty. It was his calling. My life will never be the same without him. I miss my friend. He and his family will always be my heros.

One can only imagine what every officer in Scott County is feeling at this time. This is a horrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and co-workers of Sgt. Yancey in this difficult time. In addition, I would like to say that I will be praying for the other officer involved in this incident. I know this has to be an extremely difficult time for him or her and I pray that they realize that accidents like this happen sometimes and we have no control over that. I can't even begin to imagine what you all must be feeling...I'm so sorry for your loss.

Signed,

A 911 Dispatcher

As a wife of a fellow officer of Sergeant Yancey, I feel the pain of his wife Lori and the members of the SCSD. The death of John John has changed the lives of every officer in our small county and the lives of us wating for them to return home to us. John was loved by many and has in some way touch everyone's life. He will be missed forever. All I really know is that last Friday night HEAVEN WAS NEEDING A HERO, and they truly found one.

Just Reward

The police officer stood and faced his Maker,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, police officer
how shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To your Maker, have you been true?"

The police officer, with squared shoulders, said
"No sir, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are tough.

But I never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills just got too steep.

And I never passed by a cry for help
though at times I shook with fear,
and sometimes, please forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fears.

But if you have a place for me here,
well...it need not be too grand.
I never expected or had too much
so if you don't... I'll understand."

There was silence all around the room
where the saints respectfully stood.
As the police officer waited quietly,
for the judgement... bad or good.

"Step forward now, police officer,
you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Today, December 2, 2003 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Sgt. John John Yancey who died just four days ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Sgt. Yancey's sacrifice will never be forgotten.
