Reflections for Deputy Sheriff James Marcus Weaver
most people would tell you that law enforcement is a dangerous job. i never listened. I was always afriad when there was a domestic call or when i heard dispatch say use caution with someone. My husband was a little man but his size never mattered to him. He wanted to be a policeman, he wanted to make the small town we lived in a safe place for everyone. i never thought that directing traffic would be the worst thing that he could do. I just want to say to all the officers that read this "To be careful out there and watch out for other drivers and be careful so you can go home to your family" GOD BLESS

REST IN PACE "JIMMY" WE ALL MISS YOU AT THE ROCK. YOU WILL BE FOREVER REMEMBERED.

January 1, 2004
This is the hardest thing I've ever been through, but for the love and support of all his brothers and sisters in law enforcement, it just wouldn't be possible. We (Jimmy's Dad and I) miss him so very much, it's been one month today and the tears won't stop... We couldn't ask for a more loving, caring son. He knew and touched so many people in his too short life, he was someone who really cared for his fellow man. The world has lost a truly gentle man.

Jimmy, I know that you know I am thinking of you and that you are with God. I will see you again for we are both born again Christians. Your picture of us together that Wayne Winkler (SRO McNair Middle School) took on your last day at RPD (5/12/99) is up in my office as is the picture of us together at the range when you taught tactical shotgun. Your mom and dad gave me a big picture of you in your OCSO uniform that I proudly placed in the lobby of RPD. I have your cards and especially treasure the last one you sent me from the Smokey Mountains in October. My heart hurts that you are gone. You were a credit to the uniform and the profession. Keep a seat in your jeep open for me, my friend, and we will go exploring together down the roads of heaven.
Love, Pat

First of all, I'd like to send my heart felt condolensces to Jimmy's family AND his fiancee, Judy. I CAN'T imagine how heartbreaking this must be for everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
I had the pleasure of working with Jimmy for almost the first 3 years of my employment with the City of Rockledge. Jimmy was always really nice and extremely helpful to both myself, and anyone else I noticed he came in contact with.
Jimmy always had a pleasant attitude about everything. He
loved his job and he always showed himself to be a good and respected officer. He could always be depended upon to do what needed to be done and then some.
I'm sorry he had to be taken away so soon from all who loved him. He will be sorely missed.

I was one of the lucky ones that had the privilege to work with Jimmy and know his friendship. He touched so many lives in his 37 years, and each one of those lives has been saddened by this lose. His smile, caring attitude and his generous ways will always be in the hearts and memories of those who loved him.
I remember the last time that he came to visit everyone at the P.D., he was sitting in the Lieutenants office and I was walking up the hall and I heard him laughing, as I walked by, I looked in and said hello, he responded with his always excited “Hey, how are you?” Then he displayed that wonderful smile. That moment is one of many that will be etched, in my mind forever.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his Mother and Father, family, fiancee' and Jovanni.
May God Bless each of you in this time of need.

Jimmy,
I miss the days we spent in the swamp watching the sunrise and the ducks fly into the decoys.
I miss the days we spent offshore catching dolphin.
I miss the days we spent scuba diving together.
I miss the times we spent around a campfire talking about work.
I miss the long boring nights we spent in our patrol cars sitting at the Kennedy Middle School track, complaining about the slow night.
I miss the times we went shooting together.
I miss not being able to think about you without tears coming to my eyes.
I miss you so much Jimmy.

I had the privilege of working with Jimmy for about four years when I was a dispatcher. I looked forward to the nights when he was working my shift. I could always rely on him to provide backup for other officers and to respond to calls with a positive and friendly attitude no matter what kind of call. As a dispatcher, I cannot emphasize how refreshing and wonderful it is to work with someone like that. The times away from work that I spent with Jimmy will always be among my cherished memories.
My heart goes out to his family and especially to Judy and Jovanni. I know that our reflections cannot take away your pain, but perhaps the love we felt for Jimmy may somehow reach you through our remembrances that we share here now. Beyond my immediate sadness comes a slow, sweet smile -- the same smile that came to everyone who came in contact with Jimmy. That in itself speaks volumes of the kind of man and person that Jimmy was, and I am fortunate to have known him.

I feel very honored to have worked with Jimmy for over ten years at Rockledge Police Department. He was always a very kind, generous person who was a pleasure to work with. When he decided to go to the Orange County Sheriffs Office there were many of us who wished that he would have stayed with us here but we also knew his desire to further his law enforcement career and he felt this was the best move for him. We always enjoyed seeing him when he'd "pop in" to see us and will miss those visits.
My deepest condolences to his family and fiancee. Although I never had a chance to meet his fiancee I know she must be a wonderful woman because he was a wonderful man!
They say God only takes the "good" ones and I know that Jimmy was one of the good ones!

Angel Jimmy Weaver - On the evening when God chose you to be on his Heavenly Patrol, my own daughter was working just a few miles from you. My heart as a mother of a Deputy Sheriff for OCSO broke and is still aching for your Mom, Dad, Judy and Family. I want you to know that everyday I pray for you Jimmy and for all your Loved ones that were left behind. To you Jimmy, I say in the blink of an eye they will be with you once again. To Jimmy's Loved Ones I say you will all be back together to spend eternity with one another some day. Also, I pray for God's Love to comfort all of you through this time of sorrow and grief. Our children are God's greatest gift to us and they chose a Most Honorable Profession to Protect and Serve all of God's other children. God Bless You Mom, Dad, Judy and All of Jimmy's Loved Ones, Friends and Brothers and Sisters with OCSO.

Jovanni’s Angel
Jovanni’s angel is a special one, sent to him from God above;
To teach him many things in life, like how to fish and hunt and fight.
Jovanni’s angel loves to battle crime, fighting the bad guys from time to time.
But what Jovanni’s angel really loved was his family sent from God above;
His mother Marilyn his father Mark, his sister Alicia and her husband too.
But the one who stole his heart four years ago was Judy Henoa his fiancée.
A father figure, a friend and teacher to Jovanni he became;
But now we must understand that God has other plans for James.
You see, Deputy First Class James Weaver was needed to patrol God’s halls and to protect Heaven above.
We sent him armed and ready to fight any evil that might try to enter Heaven’s Gate.
But trading his deputy sheriff’s badge was not in vain, Jimmy Weaver saved many lives that day. A true Hero to many who we will never know a super hero to his family and friends
and we know
Jovanni’s angel is really one special guy!
Hundred’s came from way afar to touch Jovanni’s angel one last time.
Although James is not with us now, he is Jovanni’s angel
and yours and mine.
Remember the good times and lessons he shared.
Keep his memory close to ease your pain,
but remember he is now fighting crime and kicking butt,
in God’s Police Force up above.
But do not worry he will find time to fish and hunt with his family and friends who are with him tonight.
Take comfort in knowing he is surrounded by love!
Folded arms and his stern look are now a smile and hug,
Telling you how much,
you all are loved.
So when you think of James, do not cry,
For he is Jovanni’s angel and his job is not done.
Rest and be assured he will touch all your hearts and his memories
will last forever in each of you.
James will always be remembered as Marilyn and Mark’s loving son,
a big brother to Alicia,
a soul mate to Judy,
a best friend to many and
a deputy to OCSO,
but most of all he will always be
Jovanni’s angel!
I was inspired to write this on Thanksgiving morning 0400 hrs. I gained these thoughts from working with the family of James Weaver, God only gave me the ability to create this tribute to Jimmy, they are the words I heard while spending 4 days with the family.
I hope it brings some of you comfort. If you would like a paper copy, please let me know by contacting the Orange County Sheriff's Office and I will send you one.
