Officer Hyatt suffered a most intense and brutal death by the hands of those who plague society. Those who are worried about none other than their personal satisfaction and gain at the cost of all others. Officers who work in jails & prisons are a special breed returning to work each day to face the angry, hateful, and crude percent.
Their is a word to describe Fredrick Hyatt, it is HERO! True through and through. He is our brother in the Blue, gone on to a better place, he stands to us an example. He is a martyr, died fighting for a cause that is right. This cause rings loud with the tone "as a society, we must hold each other responsible for our actions."
May God be with him and his family to bring peace to their souls. May the courts pronounce justice upon these five who are responsible for his death. May the judgement of the court stand to all who consider such an act, with a punishment so fierce, that inmates will shun even harboring the thought.

Officer Hyatt, you have paid the highest price anyone can pay...and that is to lay down your life to protect our society from those who have been taken out of it by the courts. Bless your family...and to all that get up and put on that uniform the next day at the T.D.O.C., you will have a new reason to put it on...for Officer Hyatt.
YOU ARE FOREVER IN OUR PRAYERS.... THE NEW JERSEY STATE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.

My fiance Dennis was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Frederick did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Frederick be the last to die this way.
Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Correctional Officer Hyatt's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all, especially to his family. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you.
Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Frederick is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Frederick was well respected and well loved.
Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiance Dennis for me.
Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumns rain
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds circled in flight
I am the soft star that shines at night
I am the flowers that bloom by day
I am the fragrance of new mown hay
I am each blade of grass that grows
I am the rush of melting snow
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die.
To Officer Hyatt's family, friends, and fellow officers, know that he filled his destiny and God wanted him to come Home. My prayers to you all at this most difficult time.

I worked in a corrections facility for two years before becoming a street officer. I grieve for you and your family, Ofc Hyatt, because I know how hard it is to work everyday in a block where you are constantly outnumbered by those who may want to harm you. I deep felt sorrow goes out to your family, friends, and co-workers.

I know words can not take away the pain your family must be feeling in a time like this. My condolences go out to your brothers and sisters on the job, and your family. Remembering our mission you did exactly what we do. We die to protect the public. Those CHUD'S could not even escape after taking your life and for their actions I only hope the courts will pass a judgement fitting their crimes. I only hope the media give you the same dignity any victim of murder would get. We truly do walk the most dangerous beat in the U.S. Rest in peace brother your tour of duty is done.
From all ou us to all of you, stay safe.

The animals responsible for this should receive the death penalty. I was a correctional officer for 14 years and know the kind of people that did this. We in corrections walk a very tight rope when we go to work. Always having to watch over our shoulders and our partners shoulders too. My prayers go out to the family of officer Hyatt. He did a job that few people could.

This is a tragic death; a man devoted his life to protecting us from the people who prey upon this society. He had to be locked up with them every day; so they could not escape and hurt us. This officer made the ultimate sacrafice so that we could be free from horror and terror. We have to remeber that when people go to jail they are not just gone from the streets. They plot every day against us and this society. They try to escape and cause harm to us. This man had a family. It's so sad. I thank you sir for protecting me!

Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Correctional Officer Hyatt for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.
For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.
IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.
