Dear Bill,

I just know that you and our Tom were there to welcome Jeremy when he left this earth. He is at peace now. Please ask the Lord to send strength and comfort to his family. You and Tom live on in our hearts, and so will Jeremy.

Dear Bill,
We never had a chance to meet, but I know that the man Paul and Laurie love and miss so much would have been our friend too. You have been gone for almost 10 years now, but your memory lives on in so many hearts. Please, say a prayer for all of us while you are walking your heavenly beat.
Happy Birthday, Bill

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogroves,
And the mome raths outgrabe'.

You are grinning just the way you did when you recited it.......it took me a while to figure out where it came from. Paul and Laurie helped me track it down. Another unique memory fondly kept.

Thinking of you and all of your loved ones as this 9th anniversary of you being called away from duty arrives and passes. Some will say that it feels just like yesterday that they heard your voice, but those that love and miss you dearly it has felt like a lifetime since they felt your touch, saw your smile and were able to hug you. Wrap your wings around them and protect them and hlep them with their grief. You will never be forgotten.

Willie P

I was thinking about you as I do quite often and thought I would write to you and give you an update on our family.

Chris is still in LA, Gwendy and the boys ( Cody,Lance,Logan)
are in SF, Eric married Megan and they have a little girl(Bella Marie) Debbie and I are at the same house and as usual a
noisy place with all the grandkids and daycare.

The holidays always bring about memories of you and your
cooking as well as the smile and big teddy bear you were to
the kids and the rest of our family. Yes our family as you have been that from the time we became friends back in 1979. But its not just the holidays that we miss you its a lot of days during the week, your stops in while dropping one off
at county or in town shopping.

There are so many stories I could tell from the time you were hired as a Deputy but there isn't enough space nor am
I talented enough to put it into words that would let the reader read it without being confused, exmple Antivivisection
Day, only those who worked back then would understand.

Anyway, I am now retired from the USMS as you would be now also. So I will miss the shooting, pizza, beer and whatever else you would have thought of to do. Football is
now starting this week and your beloved Bears should do well this year. Our boys, Jim, CJ and your new grandkids will
miss what the essence of what a football party really entailed
much more than the score of the game.

My Brother, friend and Uncle to my Children as well as family
member to us and the rest of Debbie and my families YOU
ARE AND FOREVER MISSED and never to be replaced.

Bill, you touch people who didn't even know you in this life. This is the imprint of a great life. A life lived with honor and grace.

Think of you often, Bill! It seems like a long time ago that you left us for your new patrol but then something happens that brings things up fresh again (an officer in ND was killed very recently).

You were part of my first public safety family and I will never forget!!

Bill you are in our thoughts very often and every time I go to Brookings and pass by the marker on I-29 I say hi to you and let you know that we still remember you and miss you.I'm sure you and Ann are having a great time together again. And just want Paul and Laurie to know that they are often in our thoughts also. It is so hard when we lose another law enforcement officer, it just bring back so many hard times to have to relive.Put some day we will all be together again.Paul and Laurie take care and we just want to thank both of you for all you have done to help us and for all the help you give to others during such a difficult time. God Bless You.04-18-2011

Happy Birthday, Bill.

I was trying to think of what I might have gotten you for your birthday this year, and I think it would've been some type of obscure, Monty Python DVD release.

So we'll just pretend that's what I got for you.

This is one of the true "missing you" days out of the year.

Love you.

Bill,

How could someone of limited - but not small! - physical proportions leave a space of infinite loss?

Time and space waver in the face of death's magnitude.
(Thought you might like a good science reference.)

Love you and miss you,

The laws of Time and Space waver in the face of eternity.

Seven years from a day that so many people can identify with and have lived in their own lives, a stranger feels the loss of your life Bill.
As I read the lines that so quickly and bluntly tell of your sad end my heart echos the sadness that I know your family feels on this anniversary of losing you.
I know you are with your brother, his wife, your friends, coworkers and relations, sending your love and comfort as are the rest of us in the C.O.P.S Family.
As long as we breathe you will not be forgotten and we will not stop supporting the people you love until they are with you again.

My thoughts are with all of your loved ones on this special day, Police Officer Memorial Day. I know they carry that special love and memories in their broken hearts and think of you ever day. Continue to keep watch over all of them.
