Dan, I will always remember you as a young, energetic go getter. You knew what you wanted in life and you made that dream come true. Working as a CSA, you put in long hard hours which may have sometimes felt unappreciated, however you came to work each day with great pride. Your passion for the profession should be required in all of us. You are truly one of a kind and will be missed greatly. GOD bless you and your family!

THE POLICEMAN'S LAST ROLL CALL ...

THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE
HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD
NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER
CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"

THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a Saint. I've had to
work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been
violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that
wasn't mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just
got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with
fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept many unmanly tears. I know I
don't deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around
except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me Lord, it needn't be so
grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As
the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward
now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's
streets, you've done your time in hell."

Gone from this world but not from our memories, any fallen officer goes with those who have gone before him. In our hearts we recall the pain we feel when we lose the one we love. For an officer, it's much worse, you know exactly what a fallen brother's death means, and for that we truly grieve.
To his family, friends, and brothers in arms, my condolences, god bless.

To both his family and law enforcement family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all for this great loss. As the engravings on the National Law Enforcement Memorail state:
"The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are as bold as a lion."
- Proverbs 28:1
Officer Starks was the lion, As we grow up some of us know right away what we want to do in life, he wanted to be a police officer. I was a member of the explorer post in my current department, during some of the time Daniel was a member at the Fort Myers Post. I remember seeing him at some of the state association functions. It saddens me to see such a bright young "lion" lost in the line of duty. Once again my thoughts and prayers all with "ALL" of his family
