Ofc. Morash,

It was on this day 5-years ago that you humbly cleared your meal break "early" to assist me (your dispatcher) with some hectic and challenged-filled radio activity, never once suspecting what would be.

I can say from personally knowing you that this was the type of kind and considerate individual you were; always willing to give of yourself for the betterment of others.

I have no doubt that you are 10-8 in heaven patrolling the interior and exterior of the heavenly gates, and that your spirit is now and will forever be celebrated by those who lives you touched while here on earth.

Today i'm having a hard day. Just sitting around thinking of you and knowing that Police Week is soon approaching and that we will be in Washington to honor and remember you and the other Police Officers that have passed. It is still so hard for us to accept that you are not here with us, but knowing that you are around us. Your brother is doing the Unity Police Ride to honor you and all the other fallen officers. Keep watch over us. We love you. - Mom & Dad

Hey Thomas.....Christmas is a week away and now that all the presents are bought and wrapped and the cards are sent the thoughts in my head drift to you. Even though we are all busy with our families and daily lives I just want you to know there is not a day go by we do not think of you. I put a special ornament on the tree for you just as I do every year. I miss you alot, we all do and I just want to say Merry Christmas. I love you.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Hey big Guy we miss you so much it still hurts like it was yesterday. I pray for your family in hopes that the pain gets a little easier for them because I still get teary eyed when I think about you. This past May I went to D.C. and looked you up on the wall and it was hard to fathom your not here. I hope to instill the kindness and goodness that you have in my child. You are and always will be a HERO. Please watch over us my brother so we can still fight the good fight for the ones you protected and served. God bless my friend.
