Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Phil Owens

I am MamaWolf aka Marilyn Robinson from the Support our Officers WolfPack Family, chatroom.
We send our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of Deputy Owens. We are sending all of our prayers to all of you at this time of grief.
Our chatroom is dedicated to all Professional Safety Personnel. We always tell every one in our room to please go up and shake a person in uniform and thank them for keeping us safe 24/7 so when we lay our heads down at night we can sleep knowing that we are safe.
We know they do their work with pride, and dignity not because they have to but because they chose it to help people and that is what they wanted to do.
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.

But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with God above.

Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just enternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through

God picked me up and hugged me and he said,'I welcome you.

It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.

As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.

I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.

There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.'

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.

And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight.

God and I are closest to you....In the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.

Because you are only human they are bound to bring tears.

But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.

Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

If I were to tell you, you would not understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.

I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you, and many hills to climb;

But together we can do it by taking one step at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you to;

That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;

Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain."

And now I am contented...that my life was worthwhile.

Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low:

Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;

I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go...from that body to be free.

Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.

I will always be with you!
We all in our chatroom will pray for all of you. The family, friends and his brothers and sisters in uniform.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

What a tragic loss, a 2nd Wake County deputy to die in a traffic collision in a month. Such a fine young officer's life cut short is always a heart-breaker.

I pray for his family, friends and colleagues. We all fell the loss because we are all family of the badge. He now patrols a beat in Heaven with St. Michael.

This shows once again, taht motor vehicles are deadly for cops. Please be safe and God Bless.

THE POLICEMAN’S LAST ROLL CALL ...

THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"

THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain’t. Because those of us who carry badges can’t always be a Saint. I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I’ve been violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I’ve wept many unmanly tears. I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around except to calm their fear. If you’ve a place for me Lord, it needn’t be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don’t, I’ll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward now, policeman, you’ve borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets, you’ve done your time in hell."

Rest in peace brother, and God bless you, your family and friends.

I meet Phil one time when he relieved me from PSC. In that one meeting I found Phil to be a great Professional and seamed to love his job. Another brother of the "Black and Gray" has gone to receive his assignments in heaven. Phil this county, and earth is a lesser place withtout you and you will always be missed. My prays are with the Family of Phil Owens, his friends and the members of the Wake County Sheriff's Office. God speed brother. Watch over us and protect us.

Dear God,

Why did you take our brother today, he was the one wearing black and gray. His brass was nicely polished, his shoes shined too, his heart was full of pride, but now he no longer stands at our side? He worked a life of service, his devotion tried and true, he is needed here so badly so why is he with you? He touched the lives of strangers, he worked day and night, he gave the ultimate sacrifice to take you heavenly plight. If our brother you are keeping, there is only one thing to say, please take care of your newest angel, he is the one wearing black and gray.

Policeman's Prayer to St. Michael

St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commission of Police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's
premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so please God, your hard knocks the so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God, as we have been to guard the city of men.

Amen

Phil,

On September 22nd, 1995 you and I walked into the front doors of the Wake County Sheriff's Office for our first day on " the job". We were young and full of desire to make a good impression and do a good job. In October of the same year we walked into the Academy together. Along with eight other of our brothers, we wanted to get through those five months, but there were times that we just wanted to get through the day, or just the class. There were many times I wanted to get out of that classroom, but now I wish I could be back there, sitting across the room from you. We spent two years together on B platoon, putting ourselves in situations that others wouldn't.
Phil, you were husband, a father, a deputy and you were a friend. You will be missed by many, you will be missed by me.

To think that we have to go through this two times in one month is unimaginable. The pain that our agency is feeling is almost too much to bear. My heart and prayers go out the family of Deputy Owens. I am so sorry for your loss.
