To Stacy:

I grieve with you. Your husband's death affected me in a personal way because you and I work together. I remember seeing your eyes light up as you talk about Jason. You have such a beautiful family. Please know that Jason did not die in vain. He gave his life so that evil man can't hurt any more people. Be open to what God's plan is for you. Fight for Jason so that we may see tougher laws to keep people like The suspect off of the streets. I feel a lot safer knowing that officers like your husband were out there protecting me. Jason will never be replaced in your life, but I pray that God will heal your heart and allow you to love again someday. You are a beautiful person both inside and out and it has been an honour that I have had the chance to get to know you.

Officer Pratt, I'm sadened to know that we have lost another officer in the line of duty. But, you did what you do because you chose it. You walked the thin blue line between warrior and servant and your community is grateful for your sacrifice. May God provide your family with swift closure in their loss, and to yourself, fast winds to your next assignment in heaven, as you walk those streets under his command. A huge reward is awaiting you. In the meantime, please watch over us and the remaining peace officers that will continue the watch in your absence. Goodnight sir.

Jason "Tye", The kind of heroism you displayed is something that can not be learned. Your type of heroism is something that comes from within and not many people have that. The city of Omaha lost a true hero on 09-19-03. You ran towards a situation that most people would run away from. I'll do my best to help fill the enormous void you left behind, as will everyone on the department. Because of the kind of heroism you displayed, I have never been more PROUD to say that I'm Omaha Police Officer. Rest in peace brother.

I will pray for your family Brother. I know that you are in a place we will all join you in one day. You made the ultimate sacrifice and I am proud to be a part of the profession that you will always be. To your family, I can only hope and pray that rather than mourn, they celebrate the fact that you are a hero to us all. God be with your family and friends. Rest in Peace Brother!!!!!!

I wish to express my condolences to the Pratt family. What a terrible
tragedy it takes to make people see how dangerous the job of protecting
and serving is. They take risks every day that most people can't even
imagine. I want you to know that my husband and I are praying for you
and your family, and Jason's fellow officers of OPD. Thank you Jason!
You are and always will be a true hero!

Jason,
I only got to meet you once. We worked different shifts, and they hired you when I was in my coma. We had a nice talk, " Snickers". I got to talk to your very strong wife Stacy, and the members of your family many times. You will be missed Jason, and your family WILL be taken care of from us and up above.

Everyday since November 13, 2001 I come to this site and pray that another name won't be added, knowing that it is almost certain. Until we are all united in heaven, evil will rear it's ugly head, and Hero's will die. Officer Pratt, you join an elite force, tell Billy hello, I am sure you can share "war stories", and please watch our backs.

I am not a Police Officer. I would someday like to join the ranks of the men and women in blue, who, often seemingly unappreciated by all but one another, give their lives in the defense of those who do not care and who will not change.
I was fortunate enough to meet Jason on 24 August, 2003 while I was doing a ride-along with the Omaha Police Department. My team was performing at the airshow at Offutt AFB, and I was graciously allowed to accompany Officers Pratt and Antoniak during their shift. Jason was a true professional. He WAS the police. He impressed me with his willingness to not only "catch calls" but also as a proactive, and tactically proficient officer. Jason was a SWAT officer, and he kindly listened to my recounting the details of a SWAT course I had recently attended, and he offered encouragement and guidance as to how I might further my interest in tactical police operations. We also shared dinner at KFC. He and Officer Antoniak later took me to a favorite place of theirs to grab a quick ice cream during a lull in their shift. Jason was one of the best I have seen in over 80 ride alongs in with over 60 agencies, all across the country. He was respected by not only his peers, but by his supervisors as well. Jason, you are somewhere better now. You are among the ranks of the "thin blue line" who have gone on before you. You now know only peace and love. You have left behind many friends and family who will continue to cherish the short time they had to know you. To be missed is truly the most sincere form of flattery a man can bestow upon another. You did it right, brother. Until we meet again...Blue Skies!
