Frank,

You and your family will always be in our thoughts and prayers. Although you were only with our "family" for a short time you will always be remembered.

Wake County Sheriff's Office

Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Deputy James for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.

For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.

IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

Frank,

You were going to help a person you did not know, you were going to protect someone in need, you were serving the citizens of Wake County with a commitment of strength and bravery so strong that you gave your life, so others and this County can be safe. The cost cannot be repaid, but the reward is beyond any words that can be written.

The ones that trusted you with their life day in and day out are missing you.

Frank James "Shrek"
I only knew you for 4 months, but you always made me feel we had been friends all our lives. When I was assigned to the "West Side", you were the first person I called to find out the "hot spots". You gave the ultimate sacrifice. You will alwys be remembered. My prays are with your family, friends, and co workers. This is not good bye, just till next time when we receive our assignments in heaven to work side by side again. We Know you will be there to welcome us at the pearly gates. God speed brother.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to the family of "Shrek" and to the Wake Co. Sheriff's Office. I never had the pleasure of meeting Deputy James, but my husband talked about him quite frequently. It's very apparent that he impacted many lives. Thank you so much Deputy James for sacrificing your life so that others could have a more peaceful one.

Frank,

I know now that you are in a much better place and can watch over all of us in every call that we go too. I hope you understand that you may think a lot of people didn't see you the way others did, a loving Father, Husband and a great friend. I'm just glad that I could spend the time that I did working side by side and going to calls together. I hope that Travis can learn from all of this and use it to become a great person, if not a great officer, just like yourself. Well will always remember you and the differences that you were tyring to make. Good bye Shrek, we all love you.

Policeman's Prayer to St. Michael

St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commission of Police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's
premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so please God, your hard knocks the so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God, as we have been to guard the city of men.

Amen

Deputy James, you will always be a brother in blue that we are proud to have served with and to have called our own. Your time on this earth was short, but in that time you impacted so many. You will remain in our hearts and in our prayers, God speed.

DEPUTY JAMES WE WILL ALL MISS YOU. THANKS FOR DOING THE JOB. SOME ARE BLAMING DEPUTY JAMES FOR THE ACCIDENT, BUT HE WAS DOING HIS JOB. HE WAS ON HIS WAY TO HELP SOMEONE. SO WHEN SOMEONE TELLS YOU THAT IT WAS HIS FALT, ASK THEM IF IT WAS YOU THAT NEED HELP WOULD YOU HAVE WANTED HIM TO BE COMING TO YOUR AID AT THE SPEED LIMIT. DEPUTY JAMES THANK YOU BECAUSE WE AS LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS DO NOT HEAR THOSE WORDS OFTEN. BLESSED ARE THE PEACE MAKERS; FOR THEY SHALL BE CALLED THE CHILDREN OF GOD. MATTHEW 5:9

September 10, 1933. September 5, 2003.
Two of the darkest days in the Wake County Sheriff's Office history. The days when two members of this vast family were taken from us. To Deputy James' family I offer my most sincere condolences. I can olny hope that these words written by Abraham Lincoln can offer comfort you. "I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom."

Rest in Peace, Brother!
