Reflections for Patrolman II Anthony Louis Woods
Anthony,
You will never be forgotten, nor will your family. We continue to pray for you and your family..
God,
Please watch over Anthony's family and friends. Wrap them in Your loving arms and hold them close. Provide for them in their time of need and grant them the lives Anthony wanted them to have.
Brother Anthony will live forever in our hearts and minds..

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Tonight, August 27, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Partolman II Anthony Louis Woods who died in the line of duty on this date two years ago.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Patrolman Woods' sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It has been two years and you have not been forgotten and are a true hero. Keep watch over your family as I know they still have broken hearts and will for many many years. Also watch over those officers still out on patrol.

It's hard to believe it's has been a year since your death. My son attended your funeral and just 15 days later, he was also killed. He still had the black ribbon he wore over his badge in your honor in his wallet. I hope you have found each other in heaven.
I hope your family finds comfort in knowing that you are not alone--your brothers-in-blue and their families are with you all.
Patrolman Woods, rest in peace.

One year ago today Patrolman II Anthony L. Woods lost his life in the service of his coutry and community to a senseless act of violence. His heroic sacrafice is a continuing reminder of the dangers faced by all law enforcement officers each and every day. Today all of our shifts are dedicated to the memory of this hero hoping that in some small way some peace may be brought to those who knew and loved him.

Although I never was fortunate enough to meet Ofc. Woods, I did meet several other Memphis PD officers during a recent trip there. If he was like them, then he was very professional, upstanding, and a decent human being.
As a police officer who recently lost a very good friend in the line of duty last week, I know the sense of loss and sadness that overtakes you. But as Law Enforcement officers, we have to overcome these adversities and keep on patrolling. There are people out there who count on us...
Any officer who loses his/her life in the performance of their duty, is a TRUE HERO in every sense of the word.
As it's written in the Bible, "Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God." Matt. 5:9

For those of us who did not know one word this officer spoke,
And who did not know any of his dreams or aspirations,
We do know that with his one selfless act he upheld the greatest virtues of a police officer,
For love of his fellow man he accepted death
And that resolves every doubt of his patriotism, his bravery and his virtue as a police officer.
May GOD hold him in the palm of his hand and give him peace.
