Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Kelli Lee Lambert

Miss Foxy Kelli Lee, I hope that you are having a very Happy Birthday in Heaven. I think about you often and laugh as I remember the fun times that we had. I was going through old pictures the other day, and found some of us at Jazzy's 1st birthday party. Wow was that a crazy and hectic day and you helped me out so much. We still have the Elmo blanket that you got her for her birthday, and I have told her about you. It makes me sad to think that was almost 11 years ago now. She will be turning 12 this year.

Still to this day I think of you when I hear the song "Take a picture" by Filter. Not real sure why you liked that song so well, but I will never forget you jammin' to it. You were definitly one of a kind. =)

Love and miss you my friend. Happy Birthday.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the seventh anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for the solace of all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. I share your parents' anquish in losing a beloved child which surely is one of life's greatest sorrows. Looking at your picture and seeing how beautiful you were and what a radiant smile you had, you must have been their golden girl. I read Eric's reflection in which he wrote that your mother and other loved ones would never be the same. This is so true because these tragedies alter lives forever, but I know you are forever in their hearts and souls.

Rest In Peace.

Though I never knew her, she was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. Having been in Law Enforcement over 30 years, my heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer. God is our only hope and peace through such incidents. May His great love and sustaining power continue to uphold her family & friends, and may it somehow help to know that, even after all these years, they do not grieve alone. In Heaven she is more alive than she ever was; and in our hearts, she is with us still.

Hey, girl,

I am working on writing a grant proposal to get all depts. in Jackson County, from the Police depts. to Sheriff the Marc system.

I have been thinking of you. I can't believe it's been that long since you have been gone. I'm gonna need your spirit to help me with this, ok? I'll never forget hearing you say, "Yolanda, you're my hero." and that ornery grin of yours, and the scrunchie on your wrist LOL

So much has happened, we go on with life, but you are never forgotten, kiddo.

When I pass I expect you to be there. Your uncle Jimmy is with you now, your Aunt Sheila, your grandpa left before you. Your Aunt Leona is now my next door neighbor!

I see your Mom on occasion, and your sister, Katie. She looks so much like your mom, but she has the straight hair like yours was. Hers is darker, but it looks like she might be built like you were.

Ok, girl, it's time for me to call it a day. You be with me, now, while I work on this grant proposal because I know you would want Scott, Stevie and others to be better protected.

Rest well, kid.

Well, it's been 5 years now and I know that there are hearts that will NEVER mend. I love this picture of you, Kelli. Even if I didn't know you, it just seems to fit you perfectly according to these reflections. Thanks for glorifying your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and for enriching everyone's life that knew you. I look forward to meeting you in Glory Land. Keep on smiling and making the angels laugh! I bet Jesus' smile is somethin' else!! You did a good job of reflecting Him.

You Will Be Remembered
You will be remembered when the flowers bloom in the spring
And in the summertime remembered
In the fun that summer brings

You will be remembered
When fall brings leaves of gold
in the wintertime, remembered, in the stories that are told

And you will be remembered, each day right from the start
For the memories that we once shared
Forever live within my heart

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I said it before, but it bears repeating.

We are still remembering you and your tremendous sacrifice. You are a bright light that your death cannot
extinguish.

"Blessed are the poor in spirit
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
"Blessed are those who mourn
for they will be comforted."
"Blessed are the meek
for they will inherit the earth."
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness
for they will be filled."
"Blessed are the merciful
for they will be shown mercy."
"Blessed are the pure in heart
for they will see God."
"Blessed are the peacemakers
for they will be called Sons of God."
"Blessed are those who are
presecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kindgdom of Heaven.
