Reflections for Deputy Sheriff John Wayne Musice
The policeman stood and faced his God,which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?
The policeman squared his shoulders and said.
"No, I guess I ain't because those of us who carry a badge can't always be a Saint."
I've had to work most Sundays
and at times my talk is rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...
though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got to steep.
And I never passed a cry for help
though at times I shook with fear,
and sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand"
There was a silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman.
You've borne you burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets.
You've done your time in Hell"

My family and I were heartsick to hear of another incident of police
officers being killed by being run down. Especially so soon after losing a
great friend the same way here in Vermont. God bless Deputy Musice as
I know he will. Say hi to Mike up there. He's new too.

To the family, friends, and the Wilson County Sheriff's Department,May the Lord Bless and comfort you in these trying times. Why did this happen? We ask each time we lose a Brother / Sister in blue. Sometimes answers are so very hard to find, some never. Law Enforcement lost two great Officers in this event. Two great men who will be missed by their family, friends, and co-workers. But just remember he is patrolling the Streets of Gold now, and waits for the rest to arrive.
May you rest in peace my Brother, please watch over us still here in this world.
Blessed are the Peacekeepers...................

I am so very saddened to know of the loss of two fine officers. As an officer in Avery County NC which borders Eastern Tennessee, this hits close to home. I am sorry that I was away on National Guard duty when this tragedy occurred and I could not attend the funerals.
This demonstrates that vehicles continue to be deadly for officers. I pray for the families, friends and colleagues of these fine and brave officers. They died as heroes; credits to the Volunteer State. I hope that the perpretrators in this heinous tragedy meet swift and merciless justice.
They now walk a beat in Heaven with St. Michael. God Bless and be safe out there.

John, I will always remember the way you would come in every morning and jingle your keys. That was the way I knew it was you. I didn't even have to look up to know it was you coming in to check on me. That is why you will always be known as our "little ding-a-ling"! You are deeply loved and are deeply missed, but I know that you are watching us and helping to guide us.

I work in the county that the two officers worked in. I work on the ambulance and the fire engines. I probally have worked with them on a scene but I do not remember their faces but they are still brothers to me and everyone else that they work with. They were and are very greatly appreciated and respected from the bottom of my heart. I read something yesterday where they came to mind...
TO TRULY LOVE SOMEONE IS TO LAY DOWN YOUR LIFE
FOR THEM.
That's what they did for their life. They loved their community and their county so much, they laid their lives down for everyone else.
They wil be very much loved and missed.
Those we love remain with us...
In the whisper of the wind
In a soft rain that falls from heaven
In each sunrise
In every single star that lights the night sky and
In every single memory we hold within our hearts.

Rest my Brother as you have done your time on these streets. We will move closer and fill your gap in the thin blue line but in doing so we will always know that you are there beside us and watching over us. Help us all continue your beliefs and devotion to making our Country a better place. My prayers and condolences to the family, friends, and fellow officers of this fallen Hero.

I had the pleasure to work with you for 11 years and hoped to do so for many more. But God called you home early my brother. You are deeply missed here on earth, but you can see that from your seat. I hope God has a race car for you to tinker with up there. I only hope you leave a little of the gold on the streets of gold, we need somewhere to walk when my time on earth is done. Go with God my brother and know we honor in all we do from this day foward.

To the family and friends of Deputy Musice, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. I met John several times at the Putnam County Juvenile Detention Center in Cookeville. He was a very quiet man who seemed to love his job. There are not words that will comfort you today, but John is in a far better place where there will never be another crime committed, John is sitting with all of those fallen heroes looking out for the rest of us in law enforcement. To the family as Sheriff Ashe said "Justice will be served" Rest easy my brother in blue until we meet again.
