Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Trooper Kevin Michael Marshall

My heart and prayers go out to Tropper Marshall's family, and his law enforcement family. My husband is a police officer for our local safety department here in Augusta Kansas. The sympathies don't just end in Michigan, they are heartfelt throughout the law enforcement families nationwide. My prayers are with the family.

Kevin,
Words cannot express how I feel whenever I think about what has happened. I consider myself so lucky to have several memories with you. Not to many people can say that they have known you and been friends with you for 22 years. I think back to eating frozen pizza's after school at your house, trips to my cottage in Canada, your dad teaching me all I know about waterskiing, pool baseball and standing up in each others weddings. Even though we only saw each other a few times a year after college, I knew that we always had the friendship we had growing up and could share anything with each other. We will always be there for Angie and the kids. Thanks for always being a great friend.

Greg Monteith

There is not a day goes by that we do not think about you. It just doesn't seem real. Angie, the kids, your mom and dad and Shelley will always be in our thoughts and prayers. Anything they need, we will be there. This weekend is to honor and remember you. We hold you close to our hearts. We miss you. We love you. Our Hero.

Rob and Shelley

Marsh,

How do you sum up 26 years into words?
We took each new step together.
We succeeded together.
We failed together.
We became men, husbands, and fathers together.
Every memory of growing up will met with a smile and a tear. And I will never forget all those moments that we shared and will tell my kids what a great friend you were.

I promise you that I will be available whenever your family needs me. And I will always be ready to share my favorite and fondest memories with Anthony and Danielle.

I hope you have read my note. You know how I feel. Thanks for telling Kim what you did.

You will always be close to my heart.

Love, Bill

Kevin,

It will be a month tomorrow since we lost you. I'm sure you're proud to see how your family, friends, co-workers, and the community in GR have come together in support of Angie, Anthony, and Danielle. It is a testament to the person you are and the impact that you've had on our lives. Your bravery, strength, and heroism are inspirational to us all! Personally, it is what helps me get through each day.

You will live on forever in our hearts and minds. The fond memories will long be shared and reminisced with Angie, Anthony, and Danielle. I believe that some good can come out of this as we will all strive to become better spouses, parents, friends, or co-workers to honor your memory.
We love and miss you very much.

Kevin,

There are so many things to say. It's been 4 weeks and I'm still calling your cell waiting for you to pick up. It's hard for me to comprehend the fact that Superman has fallen. I will miss you every minute of every day for the rest of my life.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for so many things, including:

* Helping me understand what a true friendship is
* Teaching me how to be unselfish
* Learning how to live every moment to its fullest
* How to have the spirit of a child at any age
* Being able to talk to you about anything at anytime
* Showing me how to be a great father by your example
* Loving my children as if they were your own
* Memories that I will remember forever

Marsh, I promise you that Angie, Anthony, and Danielle will be in good hands with all of us surrounding them. I will work on Anthony's fastball (although it's incredible already) and be there to walk Danielle down the aisle. I can't ever substitute for you, but I promise I will do my best to bring joy and happiness into their lives.

You will be missed by all of us. I just hope I am worthy of sitting down with you when I make it up to the gates some day (I assume you'll be bouncing at the door so please let me in....)

We are all so proud of you!

To Mrs. Kevin Marshall and kids:

I am sooo sorry. I can only imagine the pain.....you must feel. My son, age 21, is thrilled about his career - that of being a Police Officer. He is following in both of his grandfather's footsteps. Do private citizens really know and comprehend what our loved ones passion is and was....to protect and serve. I am thankful.....for the passion your husband/dad had......to protect us - and just being him...kevin... doing his job.

I was saddened to hear about the terrible loss of this young man and this fine trooper. Trooper Marshall's family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Sgt. Keith Williamson
Minnesota State Patrol

As a former NC Trooper, I am always sorry to hear of the death of a Trooper or any other officer. This senseless murder of a fine young officer and family man is so sickening; to think of a widow and two fatherless children. What a terrible tragedy.

I pray for his family, firends and colleagues. At least the creature that did this is in the ground now.

Trooper Marshall is a hero, and a credit to the State of Michigan. He now patrols the interstates of Heaven with St. Michael. God Bless and be safe out there.

I am deeply saddened by this loss as well as the many names that I have read here over the past years. I am inspired by all law enforcement officers, in that they are willing to stand in the gap.

To the family Trooper Marshall, I pray for peace for you and that God will make you whole again.

To the Troops of the Michigan State Police, I say thank you. Never ever forget that the community is behind you, and we know you are all behind us.

To the family and friends of Tpr. Marshall I want to extend my deepest sympathies. It is horrible to lose someone you love, especially to senseless violence.
Every night since my fiancee's, Officer Scott Stewart Detroit Police, death I prayed that this wouldn't happen again in Michigan for a long time. Unfortunately, it did. I went to Tpr. Marshall's funeral home service and I could not help but thinking of the last two times I attended a police funeral. The first was for my partners wife, Jessica Wilson Hazel Park PD, and two weeks to the day I attended my Scotts' funeral.
My heart goes out to Tpr. Marshall's wife. I know first hand what it feels like to lose your best friend, heart, and soul. It will be a year Aug 11 that Scott was taken from me. People tried to say time will make it easier, no it hasn't. The heart never forgets.
One quote that gets me through most days is:

He will not come to me, but one day I will go to him.

This line from 2 Samuel was read during the funeral for my best friends daughter and it has given my a lot to look forward to.
I hope it will help someone in some way.

With all my heart,
Monica Verdusco
Fiancee of Scott Stewart EOW 8-11-02, and friend of Jessica Wilson EOW 7-28-02

Kevin,

It was 8 years ago we all worked so hard together at the 111th recruit school through sweat, tears and blood to wear the "Trooper" badge. I will always remember your words of encouragement on our PT days and pray you are in a better place. My sincerest condolences to your family and friends. Your brothers in blue will never forget you. You truly are a guardian angel.

Godspeed Kev
