Happy Birthday Chuck.... Thinking of You Today!!!
Old Irish Blessing
May the road rise up
To meet you,
May the wind be always
At your back,
May the sun shine warm
Upon your face,
And the rains fall soft
Upon your fields
And until we meet again,
May God hold you
In the palm of His hand.

Chuck, I remember the Christmas party while we were in the academy, where you and I went to Macy's to get the gifts for the orphaned kids from Meriden, CT. You took the time to ask the employees that you worked with at Macy's to donate the gifts for these kids. That is my most fond memory of you, in that it showed just what type of person you truly are. You are one of the few people who actually meant it when you said that you wanted to be a police officer because you wanted to help people. You proved this with your actions, not only to those children who were given a Christmas celebration who most likely would not have had one, but also to all those around you in the 270th POST Class from August, 1998 until graduation in the end of December. You are an inspiration to all those who want to be in this field. If they could only have a small percentage of your heart, they would be some of the best officers. It has taken me over two years to write this to you, but know that you were missed no more than two seconds after you were killed. I write this on the night of another officer’s death from our academy class. Her life was also taken too early. I know that both of you are together watching over us. I know your watch on this Earth ended long ago, but your eternal watch of God’s kingdom and everyone below will never end. May God bless your family for their sacrifice. God bless you for yours.

I never got the chance to meet you, but having the opportunity to hear all about you has made me feel as though I knew you. Meeting your partner and sharing the last 4 months with him has made me realize what a wonderful and dear friend he has lost. Your picture sits on his dresser and every day I am reminded of why you are so dearly missed. Please watch over him as I know you do...

Chuck,
In about two hours, were all headed to the ramp. There, over a few cold ones, we will celebrate your life and talk about how you always made us laugh. We miss you very much and will never forget all the memories that you have left us with. Thank You!!!

Chuck,
I am so sorry that I did not get to meet you in this Life. I must tell you that I met your wonderful, beautiful wife last year at National Police Week because we were in the same widows seminar. We were both so broken and full of sorrow, but we spoke for the first time after the seminar and I have considered her a wonderful friend ever since. This year, we were reunited once again, and I am sure that you are so very proud of her.
Suzi,
It was great to see you this year and to meet your friend. I was so glad that we got to catch up, if only for a little while. Next year, I will be staying closer to The Wall, so I promise we will definitely have more time to hang out.
Thinking of you,

Chuck,
Our hearts are saddened by the news but enlightened by your memories. We were eager to find you after 20 years only to find out the news today after doing searches on the internet to locate you as a common loved one. Kim and I are getting married and both of us were doing invitation lists. We both were excited to look you up as a fellow classmate and friend. The three of us had a lot of fun and laughs in those days. I guess you will be at our wedding at heart and in our minds. Kim just said you may be the guardian angel that placed us together 20 years after high school. We will carry you with us forever.

Chuck,
Even though we nevewr met, I feel that I've known you for a long time. Through the Police Unity Tour, I had the opportunity to meet Suzie and several members of your agency during Police Week in DC. I was honored to meet them and hear stories about you. I wish we could have met under different circumstances and you were there. You are truly missed and you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Chuck, We have the watch. Allan

Hi Chuck,
I have been on this site too many times to count, but I haven't been able to do this until now because to do so would be to accept what happened and honestly, in some ways, I still feel like this has been a nightmare and any day now I will awaken to find everything ok. Horrible things aren't supposed to happen to nice people, right? I still remember the first time I met you. You came over to my Aunt and Uncle's house to meet Suzi's family for the first time; Liz and family were up from FL and we came down from Buffalo for Thanksgiving. And there you were the new boyfriend, in your Waterbury uniform on your way to work. I remember thinking how natural and genuine you were--anyone else would have been "trying" to impress--but you were so comfortable in your own skin that you weren't "trying" to impress, you were just being yourself and in turn you were impressing the heck out of all of us. As Suzi's cousin/sister at heart, I can't begin to tell you how happy I was for her to have finally found someone like you. I have NEVER been to a wedding where two people loved each other as much as the two of you did. You could see the friendship, trust, loyalty and deep love that you and Suzi shared. I could see that the two of you worshiped the very ground that the other walked on. You two were and are the definition of soul mates, for death cannot separate true love. Chuck, I know you are in a better place where nothing nor anyone can ever hurt you again, but you are and always will be missed and loved. You have left a void in this family, that was so lucky to have you, and in our hearts. At your funeral, just as taps was finished, the rain ceased and the shone shone bright again. I took it as a sign that you were letting us know that you were sad to leave us, but that you were ok and happy and we would be ok too. I'm still waiting to be ok.
Rest in peace and know that you will always be missed and loved.
Love,
Paula Walpole

Chuck,
I first met you as a bouncer in downtown Danbury. I then kept running into you while you worked at the hospital. You finally get the call for Waterbury. Everything is going your way. Then the lay off, and off to Bethel. Knowing your heart is in the job for the action, you get the call and back to Waterbury, where the action is, that's you. Then the call to sunny Florida. Well, there is not a day that goes by and I think how the Creator has the master plan. His plan included you because He needed somebody in Heaven to keep everyone happy and smiling as that was your part time job here on Earth. Buddy, I know you are keeping the Heavens safe. Till we meet again.

I was very fortunate to meet your mom at the parents retreat last year and then renewed that friendship in DC. We keep in contact by phone and email. You and Josh are our main topic of interest. We instictively know how the other feels because Josh was my only son also.
I am so sorry that we had to meet under the circumstances but she has been a very good friend. You remain in your mothers thoughts and my prayers.
Only a mother know how much it hurts. Other people will go on but we remain mothers until we get to see our children again.

Chuck,
Man it was tough seeing your name on that wall last week. I remember all the times we had during police week. I remember standing in front of Tanja's name with you several times. All the places we used to go like Chinatown, Kelly's the FOP. I know you were looking down on us and shaking your head with a big smile. Well I'll see you next year buddy.

Chuck,
As I read the many splendor reflections here on this page, I feel remiss about not leaving one of my own. The days you were within our family have me remebering the smile you always carried. A way of lighting up the place. The days seeing you work have me remembering the passion for the job and the desire to help everyone you had. The days sharing a beer reminds me of the loyalty you had towards your second family.
Our prayers are with you, Susie and your first family. We will always remember you and your smile. Sleep quietly my friend.

EVERYONE THAT KNEW CHUCK HAS A STORY. I AM LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A HUNDRED.HE WAS A GOOD MAN AND A GOOD COP.FOR EVERY TIME I HAVE CRIED SINCE JULY 5TH 2003, I HAVE LAUGHED TWICE. CHUCK COULD ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH. NO ONE COULD MAKE ME LAUGH LIKE CHUCK.EVERY TIME SOMEONE ASKS ME HOW I'M DOIN I THINK OF WHAT CHUCK'S RESPONSE WOULD BE. " I'M DOIN JUST FINE , MIGHTY BIG AIRPORT YOU GOT AROUND HERE". EVERYONE THAT WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO KNOW CHUCK KNOWS WHAT A SPECIAL PERSON HE WAS. I ALSO HAD THE HONOR OF WORKING WITH HIM AND KNOW , AS DO MANY OF YOU , WHAT A GOOD COP HE WAS. CHUCK WAS ALWAYS THERE WHEN I NEEDED HIM. HIS HOT TEMPER, AND PASION ON THE JOB WAS ALWAYS THERE BECAUSE HE CARED SO MUCH FOR THE PEOPLE HE WORKED WITH. WITH IT BEING SO CLOSE TO CHRITMAS I REMEMBER THE 1ST CHRITMAS I WORKED WITH CHUCK. WE WERE LOCKING UP SOME MUTANTS AND ONE OF THEM ASKED HOW HIS CHISTMAS WAS AND HE SAID " GOOD , I AM SPENDING IT WITH MY BROTHERS".HE LOVED US AS MUCH AS WE LOVED HIM.
SO MANY THINGS GO THROUGH MY HEAD WHEN I THINK OF HOW CHUCK DID HIS JOB. THE THING THAT STAYS WITH ME THE MOST IS WHEN MY PARTNER AND I WERE SENT TO A CALL WHERE THE PERP HAD A GUN. WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE SCENE WE GOT INTO A FOOT CHASE WITH THE PERP. IN TRUE WATERBURY POLICE FASHION THERE WERE 10 CARS IN THE AREA WITHIN A MINUTE. WE CAUGHT THE PERP AND A SGT. ON SCENE SAID " NO MORE CARS , WE ARE ALL SET". 1 MINUTE LATER CHUCK SHOWED UP COMING FROM 3 AREAS AWAY.THE SGT. SAID " I SAID NO MORE CARS". TO WHICH CHUCK SAID " I HAD TO MAKE SURE MY FRIENDS WERE OK ".
I MISS MY FRIEND, I MISS MY BROTHER, I MISS YOU CHUCK.
NONE OF US COULD EVER FORGET CHUCK OR WHAT HE MENT TO ALL OF US , AND WE CAN NOT FORGET THE PERSON WHO MENT THE MOST TO HIM , HIS WIFE SUSIE.
NOTHING CAN MAKE OUR LOSS , HER LOSS , ANY BETTER EXCEPT TIME. WE NEED TO BE THERE FOR HER IN ANY LITTLE WAY WE CAN.
HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL IN D.C. STAY SAFE

This was writen by me the Day after Chuck passed on :
WORDS FROM THE HEART
To my Brother and Sisters at Flagler County Sheriff’s Office,
This letter was written by me on July the eighth directly after I returned from our friend and co-worker Chuck’s Sease Memorial service. As many of you know I was one of the lucky Deputies and had the opportunity to get know Chuck and agree with many of the others, that words cannot do justice when describing this Deputy. Let me start by identifying my thoughts concerning the respect and dignity that was exhibited by the entire Flagler County Family, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Response Communities. This Memorial with the help of St. John’s Sheriff’s Office, allowed the proper transition that was needed as a first step in our healing process. We were further supported by our Brothers and Sisters to the south as Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (many who are personal friends of mine) was given the task of watching our County as we were allowed to mourn the passing of our friend Chuck. As I was driving to the Church in the procession with a friend and co-worker from Connecticut of Chucks, we were overwhelmed with emotion. These feelings were sparked by the public support in this County where people stopped what they were doing, lined the street with signs and stood with their hands on their heart in a public display of support.
The dignity and reverence that was felt deepest was by the strength and character exhibited by Deputy Michael Fink. In his silence there was a message of depth and affection that permeated. Deputy Matt Long and Chuck’s best friend identified their feelings verbally with great resolve, eloquence and deep conviction. As the Priest offered words of encouragement I watched the wives of many of our Deputies crying, and feeling the loss that Chuck’s wife and family were feeling .It was through this empathy that a loss of this magnitude could be appreciated by all. As the memorial service continued and we were outside saying our final goodbyes, I felt fortunate when the rain began falling on us, this helped disguised our tears as we attempted to hold it all together. We now stood at attention for the last time for our fallen brother. My eyes drenched in water drifted over to the Sheriff and his family as I observed Sheriff Manfre’s youngest boy reach over and grab his father’s leg as if he sensed his Dad’s despair and sorrow. This in the back drop of the bagpipes had me drift back in time to a similar setting many years ago when my son John and daughter Maria at a similar age brought me comfort when one of New York’s Finest fell in the line of duty. As we focus our sorrow , grief , and anger let us remember this, there is one person responsible for the death of Chuck Sease and that person will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Chuck had the opportunity to live his life on his own terms as Earnest Hemmingway would say “ without hesitation”.
Let this event bring us together and be mindful that life is precious and we have an obligation to be good to each other, to watch out for each other and to remember that although we may not always agree with each other, we are family. God Bless all of you and I feel fortunate to be part of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office family.
. I would like to personally thank Sheriff Manfre, St. John’s Sheriff’s Office and all the people that allowed this memorial service to unfold in a spirit of dignity and reverence.
Your Friend and Brother,
Deputy John M Gaspar, with words of encouragement.

I picked this up somewhere else and thought it fir here as well.
Final Role Call:
THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"
THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain’t. Because those of us who carry badges can’t always be a Saint. I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I’ve been violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I’ve wept many unmanly tears. I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around except to calm their fear. If you’ve a place for me Lord, it needn’t be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don’t, I’ll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward now, policeman, you’ve borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets, you’ve done your time in hell."
Rest in peace, we are in your debt.

Chuck,
I remember when you came out of the academy and started on "C" platoon. Right from the start you were always smiling and full of energy. I'm glad I got to talk to you just a short time before you were taken from us. I will never forget you and the time you spent in Waterbury. I hope they have a new Crown Vic for you and you get a good area. God Bless you brother!!
