I remember when I first met Chuck Sease at a bar where we used to work. He greeted me with a large smile and a firm handshake. Over the two years I worked with Chuck, we became great friends and shared a common interest about becoming police officers. When Chuck and I were became police officers in Connecticut, we would occasionally E-mail each other over the police computers. Chuck’s E-mails always made me laugh and I always pictured his glowing smile as I read them.

Chuck I sit here with tears of sorrow running down
my face as I type this. I want to let you know that
I will never forget you and all the times you made
me laugh. I miss you brother.

Chuck,
I sorry it took me so long to write this, but it has been one of the worst things I've had to go through. You and I have been through alot together. We worked together, we were room mates, we hung out together. By you meeting Sue I met my wife. I remember getting the phone call on the morning of July 5th. I remember speaking to Shea and couldn't understand why he was telling me that you were gone. I still sit around waiting for you to walk in the door and surprize everyone with one of your jokes.
Today is sunday and Sue is on a plane back to Florida. I hope I did the right thing this week for her. I miss you so much man. I thought the four of us would never be apart.
The day of your funeral I joked and said that you made it rain on everyone because we were all out in dress. I know that the reason it rained is because heaven was crying. Shannon and I will do everything we can to help Sue through this. I promise you. You will never be forgotten, you will always be missed I love ya man Godspeed.

I knew Chuck in High School, he was a great guy. We lived in the same neighborhood and were very good friends. It is so sad to hear what happened to him. I was very proud though to read what others had to say about him in his adult life. He obviously had conitnued to grow as a wonderful person. It is tragic that he had to be taken so early but I pray that his family be given the strength they need to make it through this difficult time.

Sometimes we do not understand why things happen in this life. Why are some people are taken from us, so prematurely. There is an emptiness when someone like Chuck is lost. We miss them greatly. But, this life is so short, whether it be 6 months, or 104 years, compared to enternity.

Our life and who we are is not what we think we are, but how others see us. For those who met Chuck Sease, even once, could see the joy he had for life. He died doing a job he loved. In his death we should stop, and remember that today is the most important day. Not yesterday, for it is gone, and not tomorrow, because someday there will be no more tommorrows. Enjoy the moment, and as Chuck did, leave the world a little better than you found it. While there is great sadness in his loss, I do believe there is a special place in heaven for heros, those those few, who give so much for so many.

You put yourselves in harms way, day after day. Often the rest of us who's safety, liberty, and freedom you guard forget to say those two simple words of "Thank you" until we lose some one.

I realize that you were not with the family of the Flagler County Sheriff's Office for very long, but you made a lasting impression on the officers that you were with. You have touched us in a way that only you could have done. You are the kind of Deputy that every one of us wants at our scene, the “cops cop”. You have no idea just how much fun I had when you were riding with me, you made my job as a Field Training Officer easy. The stories that you had to tell about your past cases and most of all the positive attitude that you brought to the department and me. Having fun in this job is not an easy thing to do, you made it a whole lot easier and I cherish those times. You were taken from us without any explanation or reason, you are gone but I promise, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. You will always be with me, sitting along side of me in the car guiding me through life. I have many regrets about that night; my biggest is that I had to meet your wonderful wife under these tragic circumstances. I know you are looking down on us from above and you see the pain that we are all suffering, rest assure that Sue will never be alone and she will always be taken care of. Sue is a part of the family, we watch out for our family members and we will always be there for her. I sincerely hope that the good Lord realizes that he now has one of the best at his side patrolling the streets of heaven. Look down upon us from time to time, guide us through the bad times and be with us during the good ones. Your saying to Sue was to always be positive, we are trying but it is really hard when you loose someone that means so much to us. I know you will watch us and protect us from the evil ways of the world. I will see you someday I heaven and I hope you have some more stories to share with me. Your duty on earth is done, rest and enjoy your life in heaven.

I met Chuck on one of my first dates with my husband Kevin. He was a charater. Smiling and joking around-definately someone who you could get into a lot of trouble with. But the kind of person you would want on your side. And then the unthinkable happens and he is taken away from us. We are left with a whole in our hearts and lives. The pain of losing him - when he had accomplished so much in such a short time.
My heart and thoughts are with Sue and her family at this time. He was and still is an amazing person who will not be forgotten. We will miss you - until we meet again

A forever friend

To the family of officer Charles Sease I am deeply sorry for your loss. I can truly tell you I know what kind of pain you are going through. My younger brother was killed in the line of duty in juanuary of this year. He was only 23 and was taken away from us to soon. I only pray that with time that you hurt and sorrow will ease. I am still waiting for that day. But I know that these wornderful men died doing what they loved best and protecting people from the crime around us. He is a true hero. And will always be with you. I knew Chuck only for a short while. He worked with Bethel Police for a couple of months after the city of Waterbury laid him off. Chuck and I had a friend in common Kevin Dee and I heard nothing but awesome things about Chuck prior to him coming to Bethel. Kevin thought the world of Chuck and after working with Chuck I could understand why. In light of being laid off from Waterbury he worked very hard at always doing his best. His experience from the city brought a lot of knowledge to our younger officers and even some older vets.
Chuck was always smiling and had a positive attitude when I saw him. Police work was one of his loves in life and he did it well. In the time I worked with Chuck I got to know a man who knew why he was doing what he was doing and where he was going to go in his life. His plans for marriage going back to Waterbury and then to Florida to start a family. The dream of all Americans, he was living it. The Sease family and all lawenforcement have truly lost a great man and friend. I say this to the Sease family his wife and all who knew Chuck I am a better man today for knowing Charles (Chuck) Sease. My prays are with you all GOD BLESS and keep smiling.
