Reflections for Police Officer John Frederick Lee Small

Big Fred, I have great memories of when you and I attended the C.S.T.I Asvanced Officer Saftey School together. You made the course fun for everyone who attended. I'll never forget our last conversation. Watch over us left behind Fred. You will nevr be forgotten. Thank you for your service and for your friendship. I love you Big Fred.

Brother Small,

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Respectfully,
You’re Brothers in Blue

Fred,

I enjoyed the time we spent together in the unit. I saw first hand how big your heart was and how much you cared for those around you. I regret, not keeping in touch when you left to Inglewood. I still think of you and Robin, and know someday we will meet again. God speed my friend.

Fred, I laugh every time I remember the 925 sounds call during at the Magnolia Farms call while you were with Sta. 47 (Westminster, Ca), the look on your face when "the hand" moves. I'm sure Chris Taylor (K-9) will never forget either or the time we would snook up on you behind Home Depot. I was at a lack of words when I received the phone call about what happened. Thanks for making me laugh and all of the fond memories.

How to sad to lose a fine officer so needlessly. I pray for his family, friends and colleagues. We all share in the loss in the familiy of the badge. He now motors a beat in Heaven with St. Michael.

Automobiles are deadly for officers and this demonstrates so sadly that no part of police work is "routine". God Bless and be safe.
