Reflections for Police Officer Rodney Fredderick Pocceschi
I drive passed your tree a few times a week. Each time that my daughter is with me, she points it out. She is only 9 right now, but she understands, coming from a military family.
Thank You.
I know that you are missed everyday.
Thankful Citizen

As a fellow Virginia Beach Police Department employee, I am so touched by the deaths of so many Virginia Beach Police Officers since my leaving the department in the 1970's. Especially by those officers that were married, and leaving behind children that will never remember their father, as Rodney's child of nine months old, when his father was murdered.
It goes the opposite direction as well! A police officer dying in the line of duty with a 9 month old child, that he will never see grow to maturity, and possibly having grand children he will never see or know as well. That is the horrible crux of these valiant officers giving their ultimate sacrifice for their communities.
All are brothers, like as in the Marine Corps, brothers-in-arms.

Rodney is buried about three feet from my parents and grandmother. I never miss an opportunity to wipe off Rodney's grave, say a prayer and say "thank you."

We missed Murphy's Sunday. However, we still honored your death by spending the day together as a family. Thank you for the sobering reminder that sometimes we just need to sit back and appreciate our time here on earth. Requiem in pacem, brother.

I was in the Marine Corps and asleep in my bed with my newlywed wife about one mile away from you when you were killed. Thank you for protecting the streets while I slept. Your service, in part, inspired me to become a cop. We were strangers but your senseless murder affected me. God Bless you and your Family.

I haven't been on your page for a while Rod. A lot of time has passed and most of my talking to you comes from inside. I hope other people that read these reflections see what a fantastic person you were. Every day I think about how things would be if you were here. I miss you. Please take care of us.

Hey Brother,
Thank you for your sacrifice !!!! Its very clear that you are dearly missed by family and friends.
I came across your name today as I was checking the ODMP website. I saw the banner for fallensofficersremembered.com
I did not know you or how bravely you lived until today.
Thank you seems like such a shallow thing to say.
GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND

Hey big, little brother;
visited your site this weekend; it's being kept up nicely and I am so grateful for the person/s who take the time after all these years.
Still moving forward with the mission to bring our officers home safely to their families and will not quit; the goal is to vest approx. 250,000 officers, and by then, the warranty will be up for others. God will provide! I have faith.
Missing you so much this weekend. It was still difficult to go to the site and even drive by it a couple times while in VA; I still have flashbacks and think what ifs and if onlys.....
Forever every day your sacrifice and the 19,000+ of other LEU's lives in my heart and soul and inspires me....
Love and miss your little, big sister....xo

At around 3:30 AM on June 23, 2003, my grandfather, Jim Cervera, received a phone call from the radio room. They said that you were in the hospital, and that my grandfather was wanted. He just became Deputy Chief only a month or so before. He woke me up, said he would be back in time for my birthday party. A few weeks later, I went with my mom, Shawn, and my grandparents, Jim and Cindy, to your funeral. We all cried for a long time. My mom and I visit your grave every so often and place flowers for you. You will always be remembered. We will always love and forever miss you.
