Reflections for Police Officer Tony Willi Zeppetella

I spent this July 4th weekend in Sacramento. I made a promise to myself one day you'd meet my family. As I walked up to the Officer Down Memorial my wife expressed her emotions. She stood behind the statue of a wife and child sitting on the bench together. I walked up to your name and said, "Tony these are my two kids, Giovanni and Laella. That's my wife Joella with Jaime and your son." I told them your story. As my daughter ran her fingers through your name engraved on the 2003 plaque I flashed back when I was at the Palomar Police academy and gave your son a Build-a-Bear. I've have kept my promise. I told you our families would hang out one day.

God Bless

AS I passed the cemterey in Paso Robles CA, not a day goes by that this officer who protected us from the dangers on our city streets in San Diego county, reminds me he did not die in vain. I used to live in San Diego county, but came home shortly after Officer Zeppetella was shot down in the line of duty. I have stopped by the Paso Robles CA cemterey to pay my respects, not just to Officer Zeppetella but to all of our uniformed officers that gave their lives for our safety. To his family, his wife always remember your husband is never forgotten. I may not have known him personally, but in my eyes and heart he was a true hero. May God be with him, as with his wife and son.
God Bless each of you for the sacifices you have made.
Always in our hearts never forgotten.

Tony, here we are at the anniversary of the day you became the hero for so many... of course, you were always a hero, as is all your brothers and sisters in law enforcement, we just forget to remember that every day! You've been on my mind a lot lately... Maybe because of the police memorial... people still ask about you, all these years later... we will never forget you, nor the sacrifice you made that awful day. Thanks to you and Danny for watching over the rest of us each day... we miss you... every day I think about you and how honored I am to have worked beside you... R.I.P. my friend...

Officer Zeppetella, your EOW was the beginng of my watch. You passed on 13JUN03 and I received my commission on that day. Thanks for your service and help God keep us left behind safe. We'll take it from here, brother.

Tony,

As I prepare for my annual trip to Sacramento for the Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony, my thoughts naturally are on those names I know I’ll see on the monument:

Sgt. Vernon Thomas Vanderpool - Palos Verdes Estates Police Department

Capt. Michael Wayne Tracy - Palos Verdes Estates Police Department

Officer Tony W. Zeppetella - Oceanside Police Department

Officer Dan Bessant - Oceanside Police Department

Tony, I am thinking of your gallant actions all those years ago. How you stood up to evil that day! Your attention to duty never wavered. For such a young officer, you really impressed me.

I still remember that first day you were in my briefing “Z”. I will never forget you.

May you “Rest in Peace”,

I think of you and your sacrifice all the time. I have never forgotten you. I see your picture and I can't forget what you did to save others from encountering the evil that claimed your life. God bless you, your family, and friends. Please continue to look over your loved ones and brethren that keep the peace.

The years have past, so quickly gone,
I've been without you for so long,
You were so handsome that day we wed,
Your face, your smile, I can't forget,
You took my hand, you kissed the bride,
Joy and happiness made me cry,
So thankful I didn't know it then,
How quickly our fairytale would end.

Your wife

It's hard to believe it has been six years since we last saw you. Every June 13th is one year further away from the time we shared on earth, but one year closer to eternity with you in heaven. Thank you for loving God and knowing Jesus, so that we have the comfort in knowing we will be together again. Not a day goes by that you are not thought of and loved. That will never change. I miss you, Tony.

It's been a long time since I've written any words here, but I think about you every day...there are reminders everywhere. Too many officers lose their lives everyday... it's so wrong. I miss you my friend...
