Reflections for Lieutenant Charles A. "Bo" Harrison
As a dispatcher for 23 years I have seen many of the finest lose their lives protecting us. My heart is with "Bo" family tonight. And all his fellow family members at the Pasco S.O. Another of God's servers has gone to be with him

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Lt. Bo Henderson. I am so glad that the officer who delivered the prayer at the Memorial Serivce today spoke the words of salvation that Bo would have wanted spoken. How horribly painful it is that the message that hatred destroys has to be marked by the grave of this wonderful man of God, family member, friend, officer and neighbor. I pray that Bo's love of the Lord, that Jesus' message that we must be born again to enter the kingdom of God, will turn hearts to God and make saints of those who were sitting on the fence until today. Your brothers and sisters in the Lord know what it is to hurt over the loss of a loved one's presence while we also rejoice that our loved one has gone home to the Lord. It is not only ok to feel both emotions at the same time, it is a tribute to Bo, to the loving and compassionate man he was, and to the love he evoked in others. To those who needed to "wake up", turn from hate, and learn compassion for others...well, we all thank you, Bo. It isn't fair that Bo lost his life because someone felt pain and sorrow, anger and resentment, against someone else. He shouldn't have lost his life any more than anyone should die in this country out of anger and resentment and we need to continue to pray for this nation, not only this county. I am sorry the price that was paid was Bo's life and it wrenches the heart and brings tears to our eyes, but each time you feel the pain of loss please remember that Bo went home, he was promoted, he is under the eternal protection and love of God and he will be greeting you, one day, when you are called home as well. Till then, though you hurt, think on his smile and the love that you feel and allow yourself to smile and rejoice that he was a part of your life and touched all who were blessed by his presence. God Bless and keep you close by His side.

Today is a day when I see a Green & White or the headlights of oncoming traffice I pause to think about the real heroes that reside among us....here in Pasco County and throughout Florida and our Country.
I never once met Lt. Harrison although I did attend a recent Civilian's Academy.
I am sadden to see that a man who once put his life on the line in Military Combat sees it ended, as he sat in his Patrol Car, by a senseless act of supposed revenge by a troubled youth.
Lt. Harrison was perhaps more of a man than the likes of his assailant will ever be or come to know.
Lt. Harrison...a Christian man....stood for right and only sought to protect the innocent...regardless of color or creed.
Lt. Harrison possessed a value system that sadly is missing amoung the troubled youth of today including communites plagued by high crime rate ...
Lt. Harrison was the kind of an American who would be welcomed into my house or to be my neighbor...
Lt. Harrison was a Role Model and a Hero....
God Bless you Lt. Harrison and Thank You for your services...
We all, God willing, have to know that one day we will be meeting up with you Lt. Harrison in the Hereafter!!!
And to the Family and Friends of Lt. Charles (Bo) Harrison may I offer my sincere sorrow for your loss....for this should never have happened!

I have no doubt that God will meet you with open arms as you go forth to patrol the streets of heaven under his command. THE POLICEMAN’S LAST ROLL CALL ...
THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS.
HE HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS.
"STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU?
HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain’t.
Because those of us who carry badges can’t always be a Saint.
I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I’ve been violent because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep,
though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though sometimes I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I’ve wept many unmanly tears.
I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here,
they never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you’ve a place for me Lord, it needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much, but if you don’t, I’ll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod.
As the Policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman, you’ve borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets, you’ve done your time in hell."

It is so hard to come to this site, but my fellow brother you are loved and missed by so many. There is a place for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice, everlasting life in the kingdom of heaven. To family and friends co-workers of LT. Harrison take comfort in this. Bo is at peace and 10-8 in the heavens doing what he loved to do. We will all see you soon again someday, but for now you will always be remember and never forgotten.

Broward County Sheriff's Office Florida
When I went to work as executive assistant to the sheriff in Pasco County in 1977, "Bo" Harrison worked in our jail in Dade City, FL.
Shortly thereafter, "Bo" was promoted to the position of Warden. Sometime later, the sheriff and I were sitting over coffee when "Bo's" name came up as a possible candidate for a deputy's position on road patrol. There was no question that he was the man for the job, and I wholeheartedly recommended him for the move without any reservation.
Little did we know what history and God had in store for "Bo" Harrison these many years later.
His love for God, his family and his fellow man reflected in everything he did and in every dealing he had with anybody, be they friend or foe. As the newspapers have reported this week, he was liked even by those he arrested, and adored by his ex-wife. What can I add to that?
This morning, I was talking with one of the employees at Pasco County Sheriff's Office about "Bo," and of the cruel twist of fate that he should be murdered in the line-of-duty within a few weeks of his announced retirement. She said, you will not believe what he wrote on the bottom of his most recent annual evaluation form and shared it with me.
On the evaluation of "Bo" Harrison written on January 7, 2003, Capt. "Pete" Petrosky wrote about him in this way:
"I am proud to have worked with Lt. "Bo" Harrison for the past 20 years. When he retires, I will miss his laughter, his upbeat attitude, his friendly smile and most of all, his friendship. I wish him the best in his retirement, but I also know that he will be back in the law enforcement arena before long. Good Luck, Bo."
Lt. Harrison's response read as follows:
"This agency has been my extended family for over 30 years and I am going to miss the many wonderful people that I have learned to love. My prayers will be with you all forever that the Lord will keep you all safe from harm and danger."
What an unbelievable loss of a great man and friend to so many.
We all loved "Bo" all these years, yet so few of us ever got the chance to tell him.
Somehow, though, I think he knew.
Rest in peace, my friend.

As we cover our badges today to honor you, we recognize what you have given to your community. You have given much more than a 40 hour work week, more than an exeptional career, for you have given yourself so we can live in a safer place. It is not easy to work these streets day in and day out serving and protecting the innocent and bringing the guilty to Justice. Lt. Harrison, I bow my head in prayer for you and the ones you left behind, for you now are protecting us in a greater light. God bless You Sir and Thank You for making a difference in our lives !

While reading of the loss of yet another LEO I am angered and saddened that Lt. Harrison succumbed to the evil efforts of a screwball with a rifle. This man survived a war only to die a hero anyway. My condolences to the family and friends of Lt. Harrison. All give some and some give all. RIP brother.

Lieutenant Harrison- Thank you for all of your years walking the thin blue line. From all of your other reflections you too were a person well liked by everyone. It seems the ones always taken from us are the ones who leaves us with a smile embedded in our hearts. Go with the angles and all of your brothers and sisters that left before you, know how much you will be missed. To Lieutenant Harrisons Family, Friends, and Co-Workers- My heart goes out to you, know there are some of us who have gone thru the same thing you are going thru now. Just keep one thought as you try so hard to go on without him- There will be no more tears in heaven. God Bless all of you.

I AM VERY SAD AND ANGRY THAT THIS GOOD MAN DID NOT GET TO RETIRE AND SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH THE FAMILY THAT HE WORKED SO HARD FOR. TO THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR TAKING THIS MAN AWAY FROM HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS , MAY GODS VENGENCE RAIN DOWN ON YOU HERE AND IN THE HEREAFTER. I TRULY HOPE THAT THE CRIMINALS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS CRUEL AND TERRORIST ACT RECEIVE THE MAXIMUN PENALTY ALLOWED BY LAW. I AM SORRY TO VENT THIS WAY BUT I AM MAD, MAD, MAD. AND SICK AND TIRED OF THIS KIND OF NEWS ABOUT GOOD PEOPLE TRYING TO LIVE AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR FAMILYS ONLY TO BE TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM BECAUSE SOMEONE IS SO EVIL. WE WHO ARE LEFT BEHIND IN THE LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMUNITY WILL HOWEVER CONTINUE ON IN HIS MEMORY. WE LOST THIS FIGHT BUT WE WILL WIN THE WAR.
GOD BLESS
