Officer Ryan Cappeletty was not a man that I personally knew, but I can not begin to explain the deep affects that his death has caused in both the Police force as well as within the community. Cappelletty's fellow Chesterfield officers, his family, friends, and I know that Officer Cappeletty was not only a valuable officer, but also a wonderful friend. The loss of this amazing person will leave a gap in the community, as well as in our hearts. My thoughts and prayers go out to all that are grieving in this time of loss. God Bless Ryan Cappelletty, a man who gave his life so that others could live.

I had this friend you see, who loved
God, Country, You and me.
My friend went to work day or night
the peace to keep, so you and I could sleep.
He worked the holidays and weekends,
away from family and friends.
To keep this peace for you and me.
Each day this friend put his life on the line
to spare yours and mine
Then one day he paid the price, he gave his life.
You've done well my friend, patrolling these earthly
streets.
Now its time to walk on Heaven's beat.
The next time you see a Police Officer or two,
remember they are one of God's Angels in blue.
"Blessed are the Peace Makers".
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and co-workers of Officer Cappelletty. You will never be forgotten, Brother.

Ryan's sacrafice no doubt saved the lives of many citizens and fellow officers that cloudy Wednesday morning. From the Police Memorial, "It is not how Ryan died that made him a hero, it is how he lived." May God extend a special blessing upon him, his bride, his family, his friends, his academy classmates and all of the Chesterfield County emergency workers who give the all everyday and a gave even more on this day.

To one of our fallen brothers...although many of us did not know you personally we are deeply saddened by the news of your untimely death. Virginia's law enforcement community has been hit hard in 2003 with officers killed in the line of duty. It never gets any easier for those of us who wear blue. Officer Cappelletty, although your time on earth was short, and your time protecting the streets even shorter, you did NOT die in vain! You are a brave hero. Please keep watch on all your brothers and sisters left down here while you patrol the streets of gold above!
Virginia Commonwealth University Police Department
Today another brother fell, another tear drop runs down our face. To all hold on to each other and together you will find away to get though. The going will be tough be you will overcome.
