Thank all of you for reflecting on our dear Ryan. We are in shock but know he was doing what he wanted to do with his life. He never swerved from his decision once he entered Criminal Justice at Edinboro University. I wish you could all know him as we do. Strong, bright, faithful, loving and kind. He loved his sweet wife Rachel for one glorious year. They celebrated their one year anniversary just two days before he was shot. We grieve but we will remember him with honor. He leaves loving parents, a sister, two sets of proud grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins who adored him. We'll see you in heaven, Ryan. Keep the light on for us.

My heart goes out to Officer Cappelletty's family. I am a police officer's wife and everytime he goes to off work I just hope he will be safe and come home to us. Although, the job is dangerous I know he loves it just like Officer Cappelletty did. They do make a difference in the world. God bless all of the policemen out there and who have been taken from us in the line of duty.

I thank Officer Cappelletty for his desire to help and to serve his fellow man. I grieve for all those who offer themselves
so openly and who have fallen. May their families find peace in God and to know that he died serving others. May God Bless all those who serve.

My thoughts and prayers are with Ryan's family and friends. In high school, he was truly a wonderful person. Today, he is a hero. Ryan, you have changed many peoples lives, you will never be forgotten.

I only met you a few times...usually you were coming out of north precinct as I was going in...but as one of the officers who responded to you that morning I know you will be deeply missed. Your sacrifice however was not in vain as there is one criminal who will no longer threaten the officers you left behind or this community again.

To your wife I will say that you do not grieve alone. The out pouring you see here is just a glimpse at how important Ryan was to his co-workers and his community. My prayers go out to you and the entire Cappelletty family.

Though I have heard "301 off-duty" for the last time I will pass you at the entrance of a much better precinct the next time we encounter. Watch over us as we continue in the fight you sacrificed your life for.

Richmond and Chesterfield are two different counties but with the same mission. Our prayers are with your family and with you Officer Cappelletty. Gone in physical, but not in spirit or thought. As an RPD officer, I am with you. God bless and keep working up there!

My heart and prayers go out to the wife of Officer Cappelletty. You are not alone. As an officer's wife for many years, it hurts deeply to hear of an officer being hurt or killed. Please know there are other wives of other Chesterfield officers that are thinking of you everyday.

Please know that thousands of people are grieving with you and for you. Officer Cappalletty was protecting all of us in Chesterfield County, and for this, we thank him. We are all so very sorry that this happened. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Another "one" gone
I cannot believe
Another time to be sad
another time to grieve
An Officer this time
I had not the pleasure to know
Still having heard the news
my tears began to flow
We ask ourselves why
so promising, so young
We have to accept
his work here with us was done
Lord we know you have a special plan for him
one of guidance and love
We know now we have another angel looking out for us
His light shining from above
***God Bless you Ryan and blessings to your family too***

I awoke the morning of May 28, 2003 thinking "thank you God for helping me to survive four years without my beloved husband, Craig", (who was killed in the line of duty May 27, 1999), only to learn that tragedy hit another young woman and her life had been shattered and forever changed in an instant. My heart is broken for the wife and family of Officer Cappellety; you are in my thoughts and prayers, and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to all...May your memories comfort you, for no one can take them away.
My thoughts and prayers are also with Officer Cappellety's law enforcement brothers and sisters and all of Chesterfield Police for having to deal with another tragic loss of a young, beloved brother.

My entire family prays for you, and your family. Your sacrifice shall not be in vane. You will be remembered and revered for generations of Law enforcement officers to follow. Chesterfield Police Department has suffered a terrible loss, our prayers are with your brothers in your department as well. God Bless You and your family. You are a HERO in my eyes.
With love and respect,

To the Cappellety family, words can not express my sorrow for your loss. I did not know Ryan personally because the department has just gotten too big. I did however know the officers he served with on North Mids because I worked that shift for two years. They told me he was a good guy and a good officer. That simple statement tells me volumes about Cappelletty. Those officers are very tight and no one just joins the shift, they have to earn the right to be apart of that group. Ryan earned it right away.

It has been stated for years that we had an angel watching over our department because we had never lost an officer under these circumstances. Now we all know we will have an angel protecting us. Ryan served us well on earth and will serves us well in Heaven.

Rest in peace Ryan. You finished your tour, we will take over now.

As a member of the law enforcement community, Ryan Cappelletty, gave the ultimate sacrifice. He is to be commended and honored for his dedication. Sympathies go out to his beloved wife, family and fellow officers. He will surely be missed. Take heart knowing that Ryan is now in a better place and that the sacrifice he gave will never be forgotten.

Ryan, today you gave your life to answer a call for service from someone that you only knew as "no complainant". You answered a call that so many of us have taken before. And it is because of this, that as I stood back and watched a crew of many try and figure out questions that only you could answer, I felt an overwhelming sense of anger, and could only ask myself...Why? But soon after that feeling had taken over me, it was replaced with thought and concern for Rachel, and for your brothers and sisters on A Shift. Although I only knew you for such a short time, when my phone rang at 9:13 A.M., and I was told what had happened, I felt a loss that I can not put into words.

I hope that Rachel can find comfort in knowing that the first time that Ryan marked 10-8, that she was forever made a part of a family that will always love her, and will always have her in our thoughts and prayers. Ryan did not die in vain, and he will always be remembered and honored as a "HERO" to me. Rest easy Ryan, the watch is ours now, so please watch over us as we continue the battle!!!!!!!!!

Although I did not have the honor of personally meeting or working with Officer Cappelletty, I still feel a deep sense of loss, having worked with many of his colleagues. His dedication and willingness to serve our community will stand as an inspiration to others who seek to protect and serve. May he be at peace -- and in our thoughts and prayers.
