Reflections for Trooper Michael Lynn Newton

Trooper Newton,
I met you but twice. The first time you assisted me with my first DWI arrest (0.252 and I was still having problems untill Newton arrived). I was fresh out of the accademy and you had not been there for long. I was working for Bates City at the time. You were nothing but kind and helpful, to me and my arrestee. I will never forget you brother...you died while protecting us...all of us.

To the Friends and Family of our Fallen Blue Angel,
I want to express my deepest sorrows with you for the loss of Trp. M.Newton. He will be missed my many but he will always be remembered. In his short life he has served god already by protecting an unknown amount of citizens here on earth. Now we know he is doing the same upstairs by protecting them in the same way he did us. I can't begin to imagine how the family is dealing with this. I my self was almost taken by the lord in an accident in Nov.02 which has left me with almost no use in my left arm due to severe nerve damage. I myself havent yet returned to back to work in the police department. After that accident I saw just how hard that was on my family and fiance being I am the same age Trp.Newton. I just want you to know there are people across the country praying for this young Fallen Blue Angel.

Trooper M.Newton Rest in Piece and God Bless You Brother.Although Gone from Earth You are in Our Hearts and Prayers here in New Jersey.

Rest in peace...

THE POLICEMAN'S LAST ROLL CALL ...

THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE
HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD
NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER
CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"

THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a Saint. I've had to
work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been
violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that
wasn't mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just
got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with
fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept many unmanly tears. I know I
don't deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around
except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me Lord, it needn't be so
grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As
the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward
now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's
streets, you've done your time in hell."

The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone,
for part of us went with you the day
God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide.
Though we cannot see you, you are
always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

I wanted to sincerely thank everyone for all the support, prayes and kindness..

I know Mike is in heaven watching over all of us and not a day goes by that we dont think of him...

Wife of #799

Mike, there's not a day, an hour, a moment, or a traffic stop that we don't think about you. You made an impact on each of us and you will never be forgotten. Rest assured knowing your family is being cared for. The only thing that helps us go back to work doing this thankless job is knowing we will see you again. It's just going to be a little while. Love, your brothers.

Brother

To the family, friends and co-workers of Trooper Newton, my deepest sympathy for your loss. May God bless and comfort you all.

Officer Jon Cook

Very few of them will ever understand why we wear these shoes that we chose to put on our feet after becoming Deputy/Police officers. We who wear the Badge set out to accomplish one thing in life and thats to eliminate the bullies. Its sad to see when one of us has been taken out of the game at such an early time in their lives. Trooper Michael Newton had one thing on his mind and that was to make a difference. I'm truely sorry for his family, friends, and Department for all that they suffer behind their loss. Michael please watch over all of us and make sure we do the best we can for all of those that believe in us. Its time that FORD see's what they took from our families.

Deputy Jarrod Jensen
Los Angeles County Sheriff

Our deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers of Trooper Michael Newton. Our son, Trooper Robert W. Ambrose was taken this past December in the same manner--
ANOTHER CROWN VIC-TIM !! We pray that GOD will comfort you and carry you through the difficult times ahead.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through.
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you.

It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go....from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the family of Trooper Newton:

Some people wait a lifetime to find their way. They are never sure of who they are or what they want. Law enforcement finds those who already know their way. I suspect Trooper Newton found his way about two years ago.

Rest assured that there are people in this world who understand the daily sacrifice of law enforcement. They will honor the memory of Trooper Michael Newton and find a way to prevent future law enforcement tragedies.

Family and Friends,
We are so very sorry to know that one more of our heroes is gone. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now during this horrible storm.

He died protecting those he didn't even know.

My condolences to Trooper Newton's family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Another senseless tragedy due to defects in the Crown Victoria is disgraceful. Ford - please take responsibility. Men are dying, children are losing fathers. My nephew, NY State Trooper Robert Wayne Ambrose, was killed last year while sitting in his Crown Victoria on the NYS Thruway. His vehicle was struck from behind, the explosion killed him and another innocent.

Rest in peace Trooper Newton.

Blessed are the few who live life for the masses. It is an Honor to have these Officers in our ranks. It is the calling of God, when we are called upon to make the highest of sacrafice. Until the day we patrol a zone together on those streets of gold. It will be my honor to cover your sector. You will not be forgotten as I complete my duties. All I ask is that you and the other Angels are in route when I call for back up.

As a deputy and a husband of the same age as Trooper Newton this event really hit me emotionally. I see a Trooper that was doing his job and something that he obviously had a passion for. I also reflect at what a pain it must be for the family to see someone taken from them, only to look back and utter what we have almost always heard, " He was doing something he loved when GOD chose him to leave this Earth." I also remember that the profession we have chosen comes with risks and we need to take that needed "family time", so when it is our time to go, whatever form that may be, our loved ones can look back and say, "He was doing something he loved." My heart and prayers go out to the family, wife and two young sons he left behind. I am sure that Trooper Newton will be looking over them all as he was looking over the safety and concerns of the people he was assisting that fateful night.

Deputy Shane D. Thatcher
Dane County Sheriff's Office

Another hero has had his life taken too soon. My deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers of Trooper Newton. May the Lord give you strength and bless each of you during this time.
Rest in peace for your watch here is over walk in heavens beat and guide us all to protect and serve others safely.
