Reflections for Deputy Sheriff James Joseph Mulay

To family, friends and co-workers:

Please accept my condolensces on your loss. My prayers are with you. This is truly a senseless act; my father and another officer were taken from us by a DUI driver 6 months ago while they assisted a motorist change a flat tire. Too many officers are tragically taken from our lives because of this stupid and thoughtless act. This crime is totally preventable and should be prosecuted with the same vigor as a crime involving a handgun or knife. The weapon of choice by this criminal was his vehicle--still a weapon and just as deadly.

To his wife and sons, I am so sorry for your loss. May God give you peace of mind, and may he comfort your broken hearts. Find peace in knowing that God has called him home to be with all of the other very special angels that have been taken from us. Find comfort in his memories and in his love for you which cannot be taken away by death.

To the wife of Deputy Mulay:
Thanks for letting your husband serve your community, as a wife of deputy, I know all to well some days are harder to let go then others. That ache you have in the pit of your stomach, watching him walk away from the house and some days wondering if this will be last time you'll see him, or hold him. Your husband is a hero in our eyes, and those little boys of yours are his legacy, teach them well. Let them know how special thier daddy is... May you feel our support, and our love, the law enforcement family is huge and we are all here to hold you up right now. You are in our prayers...

I wish that I could say something to the family, friends and co-workers of this fine officer that would make this all better, but I can't. No one can.
What I can do is assure you that Deputy Mulay is in our hearts and on our minds at this very moment and will continue to be from this time on. Losing a loved one is never easy...losing a "hero" is especially difficult. Jim lived his life protecting and serving. He chose a career he knew would put him in harms way, but also one that would reward him in its ability to put him in contact with those who needed him to keep them safe. When I read that an officer has been lost, I know we have "all" lost. But, I also believe that for the men and women who make the ulitimate sacrifice, there will be a life after here. A life less stressful and less dangerous, yet a life still even more rewarding. I also believe that the families of these men and women will again see their loved ones, as that is God's reward to them for the sacrifices that they, as loved ones and supporters of such heroes, have made as well.
Deputy Mulay, may God Bless you and keep you forever in his arms. You will always be a hero and you will never be forgotten. Rest now Blue Angel...rest now.
