It saddens me to see another brave hero lost. He had given so much to our profession and to lose it all in the blink of an eye. Rest easy Officer Hylton. We will take it from here. You served to the best of you abilities for so long, I am sorry to have to see it end this way. Rest in peace brother.

Scott was a very good man and someone to look up to. I had the privilage to serve in the military with him and have him as a brother in law enforcement. Rest in peace and watch over everyone protecting our streets. You are truely and deeply missed.

Officer Kyle Dufault
Raleigh Police Department

To the family and fellow law enforcement brother.....My heart goes out to you all. I know how you feel and it breaks my heart to know that yet another husband, father, son, etc... has given his life to save ours. My husband was killed a few weeks ago in a pursuit. We just got married three weeks before the accident and just had a baby. Plus he left behind three more kids. We will continue to be survivors together and you are not alone in this. My heart pours out to you. He will continue to patrol the streets of heaven with my husband. God bless and rest in peace Officer Hylton.

I had the honor to work with Scott for four years at the Floyd County Sheriff's Office. Not only was Scott a friend, but he was a mentor. I learned a lot about becoming a police officer in the Basic Academy, however, Scott taught me what it was like to actually BE a police officer. I never left an encounter with Scott without a smile on my face and a piece of wisdom about the job and life itself. He will be missed greatly. My prayers and those of my family are extended to the Hylton Family and the Law Enforcement Family everywhere. May God watch over us all.

The great poet and Priest John Donne wrote that "every man's death diminishes me". Officer Hylton's untimely passing strikes me extra hard because I too am 43 years old, and in August, God willing, I will complete twenty years of service. Age and experience do not make us immune from the dangers of the job. More and more I have come to know that "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble" (Psalm 46:1).

May His peace be with Officer Hylton and all who mourn.

Chaplain Tom Shelley

My wife Aleidy and myself wish to extend our condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of Off. Hylton. May he rest in peace.

As I prepare to leave for Washington D.C. to attend another police week, it saddens me to see that another name will be added to the wall that we will be visiting. My deepest sympothy goes to the Hylton family. As a widow, with two children, I know how difficult it is, how scare and alone you feel.

Although I know it is not the same as having your husband and children's father there with you, please know that you are not alone. This family of law enforcement will always be there for you. You will be in our prayers for many days, weeks and months to come.

Widow, Sgt. Marc Muncy, Columbus Div. of Police, EOW 04/05/95

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.

To the family of Officer Scott Allen Hylton and the Christiansburg Police Department, your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieve with you during this time. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around each of you during this most difficult time.

To all my brothers and sisters, may God be with you every day, please remember, we are a part of the largest family in the world and when one hurts we all hurt.

Though our badges and uniforms may be different, our mission is the same. Rest in peace with our other fallen Brothers and Sisters. We will continue the fight in your honor.

Florida Deputy Sheriff
