What a tragedy, the loss of such a fine young officer. I pray for his family, friends and colleagues in this sad time.
We all share in the sense of loss because we are all family of the badge, even when we are with different agencies and in different places.
He is a credit to his agency and to the profession. This brave man nonw patrols the streets of Heaven with St. Michael. I hope the animal who did this is caught and punished appropriately.
God Bless and be safe.

This is so similiar to how CPD Officer Wayne Leon, EOW 6-25-00 and so many other fine officers have been killed. What a tragedy. Only a true coward murders so unexpectantly.
Rest easy brother, your tour here is done. Keep guard over God's streets as we keep you in our thoughts, in our hearts and in our prayers. You truly are a Hero and will never be forgotten.
Cleveland Police, Retired, Ohio
My heart broke once again for another family who has had to suffer the tragic loss of a police officer. Each time I read about an officer who has lost his life in the line of duty, I ache knowing all too well what the family is and will be going through.
To the family...please know that there are so many people who will have you in their prayers now and for many years to come.
To the officers...please be safe!!!

So sad, so very sad. This officer was TOO young. I check this site each day since my husband lost the fight. I hope and pray before logging on that there would not be another officer's name added. My heart and prayers go out to this brave young officer's family, co-workers and friends. May God comfort each of you through this very difficult time. I will continue to pray for all of you.................John 15:13

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.
To the family of Patrolman Michael Hartzell and the Youngstown Police Department, your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieve with you during this time. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around each of you during this most difficult time.
To all my brothers and sisters, may God be with you every day, please remember, we are a part of the largest family in the world and when one hurts we all hurt.
Though our badges and uniforms may be different, our mission is the same. Rest in peace with the other fallen Heroes. We will continue the fight in your honor.
