Reflections for Police Officer Aaron Jovon Blount
At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.
Tonight, April 22, 2005 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Police Officer Aaron Jovon Blount who died in the line of duty on this date two years ago.
When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.
Officer Blount's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

On this, the anniversary of your death I SALUTE YOU Officer Blount.
No man should be murdered simply for doing his job.
I will also take this opportunity to salute the U.S. Marshals. They continue to put their lives on the line to apprehend spineless cop killers, as they did without reservation when my co-worker was murdered in the line of duty last year.
God bless your family and your department.

After coming across this memorial page and reading about Officer Blount I was moved to tears. I sat and looked at his picture and I cried. Just think about his fiancee and his son was heartbreaking. I just hope that Blount's family will soon be able to relax and know that justice was served. My prayers are with Blount's famiy and friends. May God Bless You All

Aaron,
I was exactly one year ago that I last saw you, but is seems like it was just yesterday. Today, a portrait is being revealed in your honor at the south precinct. I can only hope that it will replace the vivid memory of the last time I saw you. YOU have not been forgotten!!!

My days spent at Clark College (Clark-Atlanta) hold really fond memories but I always remembered that Atlanta like all cities in America had it's dark places. The great courage it takes to put on that uniform and badge can not be measured. I am honored to have been your Brother in blue and will never forget you or those that have passed from this life. Rest in Peace my Brother

To my fallen brother in blue, you may have had to leave us behind but your fight will be won. For we will carry on and as long as the uniform is worn untill that great day of calling, you will always live on. Into God's home you have been called, blessed is thy name, rest for now and my God's love carry you and protect your dear ones.

The police officer stood and faced his Maker,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, police officer how shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To your Maker, have you been true?"
The police officer, with squared shoulders, said "No sir, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent, because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny, that wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed by a cry for help though at times I shook with fear,
and sometimes, please forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fears.
But if you have a place for me here, well...it need not be too grand.
I never expected or had too much so if you don't...I'll understand."
There was silence all around the room where the saints respectfully stood.
As the police officer waited quietly, for the judgment...bad or good.
"Step forward now, police officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell."

I miss you "A. B". I remember that roll call so clearly! We laughed so hard, because you said, "hey FLU those pants are mighty tight. I also remember the first time I met you. You were trying on your uniform, and LT. Priscilla McIver was critiquing the fit. You moaned and moaned about those patten leather class A shoes! She certainly squared you away for mandate graduation. I really appreciate you looking out for me. Your presence is a comfort to me when I go out on calls. You extended family at Welcome All park continues to prosper and there talking about renaming the park after you. The watch is doing great! We've had some superb officers join our ranks. We took a group picture(you got the entire evening watch assembled in one place at one time). Only "A. B. THE GREAT " could have pulled that off! You get into HEAVEN and immediately start performing miracles. You've saved countless policemen by your example. We will keep in touch. We will look out for your mother, fiance and son. It is my goal to do as good a job looking out for them as you now do looking out for us. TALK WITH YOU SOON, ANDERSON C. FLUELLEN 0887 FULTON COUNTY POLICE SOUTH PATROL EVENING WATCH BEAT 341.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Blount.
While many of us in law enforcment wear different colored uniforms, we all share a common goal. We protect society from the criminal element. Rest well my friend, those of us who remain will cover your place on the thin blue line.

Aaron, you will be greatly missed. We've lost another brother and friend in our most ungrateful profession one could work in. I only had a couple of ocassions to meet you and talk with you, but I remember those times and will cherish them forever.
May you, your fiancee', and child find peace.
You are loved and missed, brother. Please give Chris my love and thoughts when you see him. Thanks, bro.

My heartfelt thoughts go out to the family & friends of Officer Blount. A friend of mine was recently killed in the line of duty. (EOW 4/29/03.) He, too, was 26 years old with 2.5 years of service.
Officer Blount is safe now, patrolling from above. Please know you are all in my prayers.

It is so hard to understand why these things happen to good people! The only thing that makes it easier is to think about what a WONDERFUL place he is in now! I hope the family will understand that they are never alone and that they can call on their Brothers and Sisters in law-enforcement if they shall ever need anything! God speed............

Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Officer Blount for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.
For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.
IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.
My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Aaron be the be the last to die this way.
Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Officer Blount's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out especially to his fiancee. I know exactly how you feel. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you.
Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Aaron is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Aaron was well respected and well loved. Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please take care of my fiance Dennis.
Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!
