Reflections for Police Officer Aaron Jovon Blount
First and foremost, I am so filled with joy to see your name, Officer Weinmann. You have been through such an ordeal yourself. I am so proud of you.
I just read online that they have caught the suspect in Miami, Fl. Wow..what great, absolutely great police work.
My heartfelt sympathies go out to Officer Blount's family, fiance, and co-workers.
I offer a sincere Thank You to all of the officers that risk their lives day in and day out to keep our streets safe.
Tene Hamilton, sister

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Officer Blount. This is a reminder of how evil our World is at times. He is out there protecting the citizens of his community, and in return his life is taken by scum. Anytime a fellow officer is taken from us I take it personally, and it breaks my heart. God speed Aaron and watch over the rest of us from heaven.
Deputy First Class Marcel Caron
Orange County Sheriff's Office
Unfortunately I do not have the details to offer, but it is my knowledge that they now have a suspect that they are tracking. Please, God, help us avenge this truly vicious crime.
To the family, I hope that you know how proud the Law Enforcement community is of your family member. I for one, beam with pride...yet hang my head in sorrow. He may be forgotten on the news or in the newspapers, but not in our hearts.
GodSpeed Aaron.
As I sat in my patrol car on April 22, 2003 assessing the four months it has been...to the day...that we lost Officer Betts, I had no idea of the tragedy that was taking place less than two miles from where I sat. We all wish we could have been there for you. We all wish we could have been there WITH you. I am confident that as time passes, the memory of you will only intensify for your family and friends, and when we all look back at this message written on April 26, 2003, we will all say that this day was before we caught the coward who did this. He WILL be found. He will regret that he ever met you!
GRIEF IS AN HONOR
Accumulated grief and sorrow, no longer to be held at bay, have swarmed up and blown
the hinges off the gate. Grief and sorrow have flattened me.
After the gate flew open, I learned the most important lessons of my life. I learned that
grief is precisely equivalent to love, and the terrible grief felt after the loss of a person one
has loved deeply is a necessary consequence of that love and represents its survival in
another form. However bitterly, grief is an honor.
I learned that grief universally saturates and enriches our world, for sooner or later loss
of an almost unimaginable order transforms everyone. Parents die, brothers and sisters
die, even children die, and these deaths create irreparable wounds that shrink over time but
never heal. On all sides, tears lie just beneath the surface. The emotion that gives rise to
those tears is a connective tissue extending far, far down into our common humanity and
our individual beings, and in those depths it becomes indistinguishable from joy.

To the family and friends of Officer Blount, please know that our prayers are with you. I continue to be appalled by the cowardice of the human race, to take a life needlessly, and for what reason? I am proud to have women and men such as Officer Blount on OUR side. Pride in knowing they're willing to die to protect the freedoms of others. This knowledge is the key to my determination to continue on in law enforcement. Officer Blount, you've done us proud! Thank you for your committment and sacrifice.
