Many people seem to have less than the utmost respect for police officers and some have conveyed to me their contempt for the job that they do. This is usually after getting a speeding ticket or being held up in traffic because of an accident. Whenever someone complains to me about their dealing with an officer of the law I always ask them this question,"if a total stranger called you in the middle of the night and told you someone was robbing them, beating them or doing some terrible thing to them would you rush immediately to that persons aid not really knowing what you were walking into", the answer they almost always give is "not for a stranger". Then I remind them that is exactly what the police officers and sheriffs deputies do and then they have usually realize they picked the wrong person to complain about the police to. Now I've gotten my share of tickets and I have deserved every one of them I do however have the utmost respect for the law and those who enforce it.

The feelings I have toward the culprit who took this brave mans life are hard to explain, they are part hate, part anger for his crime and part regret for his rash act, and other feeling whose name I do not know. I am a Christian however and have been commanded by God not to hate and I try not to, but I am reminded of James 2:13 and I find comfort in God's word," For there will be no mercy for you if you have not been merciful to others", I believe and I hope that the vile coward who mercilessly took the life of Officer Blount will find no mercy when judged in our earthly courts or when he stands before God to be judged.

I want to end by thanking Officer Aaron J. Blount for the love and the mercy that he showed to the citizens of Fulton County, equally to those that were innocent and those that were not. And I know that he has seen things on this earth that no ordinary citizen will see or even want to see and that even now he seeing things none of us can see unless we cross the Veil of life and death. He has seen streets of gold, the prophets and saints of the bible, and I envy him because he has even seen the face of our God and our Redeemer. James 2:13 condemns the merciless but also promises mercy to the merciful such as Officer Blount," But if you have been merciful, then God's mercy toward you will win out over his judgment against you." God bless you Officer Blount and I pray that those who loved you the most will soon find comfort.

As I began briefing before I went to work Saturday I was passed a picture of the person responsible for Officer Blount's murder. The local law enforcement agencies wanted the face and name to be familiar in case any of our officers happened to call out w/ that particular name. I am ecstatic to hear that that BOLO can now be removed from our BOLO board as justice has been served. Thank God.

Officer Blount, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I know this is a difficult time for your family and friends and I doubt they know how it affects those of us who are in the same line of work. But if they happen to read this I hope they will realize that we are your "other" family. Much different than they are...but we grieve at the loss of your life, too.

I just happen to come across this page and learned about the what happened to Officer Blount. Although I cannot speak, for the wars the men and women in blue face in the streets daily, I can say that as a servant for this country we all tread very similar ground to protect the rights and freedom of those who live in this country.

I would like to offer my deepest sorrow to Officer Blount's family, his fiancee and his young son. My prayers are with you during this sad time.

How tragic, such a fine young officer struck down in the prime of his life. I pray for his family, his baby, his fiancee, colleagues and friends. We all share in the grief because we are all family, even though we may wear different badges and work for different agencies.

I hope the cowardly thugs who did this despicable deed are caught and convicted.

I am so sorry to hear about such a horrible loss in your lives! He lost his life as a hero, and his memory will be cherished by many, but that will not take away the pain of this tragedy. I hope that you can come together now and in the future to support each other through these difficult times, and help his son to know what a truly awesome man his father was.

It's hard to accept that such an evil act could happen, and I hope that the people who were responsible are caught and that this can give you some closure. I believe, though, that no punishment they face here can ever make up for the evil that has been done, and that they will eventually be held responsible for their actions when they have to answer to the Lord. I am very saddened to see another one of us to be slain. Last week (4-11-03) our department lost a rookie officer. We pray for the family of the officers that are killed.
