To Correctional Officer Michael Wilson Douds and his loved ones:
On this the third anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.
My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.
Reading the reflections about your beloved Michael gives us some understanding of what a kind and honorable man he was, and how many good times he shared with his family members
and friends.
Rest in Peace, Officer Douds. I am humbled by your valor, courage, and dedication.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the fourteen years of distinquished service Michael gave to his community and the citizens of Ohio, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 5, 2003.

Your occupation has to be one of the
most difficult there is. You gave your
life trying to save someone who didn't even want to live. How ironic is this. Our hearts go out to your families and loved ones on your 3rd
anniversary. Time has not diminished your sacrifice.

It was on this day, 8 years ago that my husband was killed in a car accident while responding to a call for backup and so I know all to well the pain that has come to Officer Douds family. I am so sorry that you have to go through this loss. Please know that your family is in the prayers of so many other families around the country.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and coworkers of CO Douds.
While many of us in law enforcment wear different colored uniforms, we all share a common goal. We protect society from the criminal element. Rest well my friend, those of us who remain will cover your place on the thin blue line.
