Leroy Bedell was my husband's (Todathon E. Wagner) grandfather. Tod was a Norwalk Ohio Police officer from 1972? - 1986. He then taught at Owens. Tod was proud of his grandfather's service and sacrifice to the community. I think that is what prompted Tod to become a police officer. Tod also rode motorcycle. Tod was killed by a drunk driver on 15 Dec 2017, on Rt. 20 in Wakeman, Ohio. God Bless both of them. I sure hope they have connected up in heaven.

As I sit here and reflect on the family that I have been blessed with, I can't help but cry with tears of honor. Leroy Bedell was my great grandfather. He passed when my grandmother was just a young child. My grandmother Shirley passed away last September so I have began taking on the trandition of going to Granpa Befell`s graveside on Memorl Day as she took me when I was a child. I remember driving through Clarksfield and Grandma pointing things out to me that she remembered as a child. When she passed away just like Aunt Jackie said.. the State Troopers came to the funeral home and offered their condolences and asked if we would like an escort of the casket to the church for the funeral. Grandma would have loved that and would have been truly honored. I look forward to being able to go with Aunt Jean this year to a Fallen Hero memorial as she and she and her siblings did and continue to pass that tradition along to my children. I am proud to be a Bedell. Rest in Heaven with your children Grandpa. But I'm keeping Aunt Jean for a while!

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 78th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

I am proud to be the grandaughter of Leroy Bedell. I have attended my of the memorial services in the past. My mother (his daughter) passed away on September 18, 2012. An Ohio State Highway Parol trooper showed up at the funeral home and presented me with a patch that worn on the shoulder of a Trooper. I was so proud, and will remember this gesture for the rest of my life. We will always be family. God bless you.
Grandpa and mom, rest in peace together.

I attended the Ohio State Highway Patrol's memorial service for the first time this past May and was moved by the dedication the Patrol has for remembering it's fallen officers. I was also greatly moved by the number of family members who come back year after year to honor their loved ones...some who have died over 50 years ago.

My boyfriend is a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. I have always been proud of his job and his affiliation with the Patrol, but am even more so after attending the service. People always use the "words" "you will never be forgotten. The family of OSHP live by those words.

You died doing what you enjoyed, riding the motor. Now you patrol Heaven, the only difference now are the wings. Watch over your Brothers and Sisters on motors.

Rest easy, Brother...
