My Mother and I were able to visit the area where my Great-great Grandfather Julian Partin is buried. There was no gravestone but we felt his presence there. He will always be a hero to me.
With love,
Jerilyn Barton and Rae Jean Clark

Officer Tom Simonds,

You escorted my dear Aunt Rae, my grandfather Partin's youngest child, that day in 2003. Sadly, for me, my Aunt Rae has now joined the rest of her siblings, in death.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 89th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. What tragedy your family endured to have your son also killed in the line of duty with LAPD, yet your descendents are still dedicating their lives to protecting and serving others. What a wonderful legacy you left.

Rest In Peace.

I was not familiar with Winterhaven, California until I began doing research after a CHP officer died in a traffic collision. Citizens living on the Arizona side, near MCAS Yuma assisted me with my research. I discovered that Deputy Partin was actually the first Imperial County cop to be killed during the onset of the so-called "War-On-Vice," during the early 1900's.

May He Rest - In - Peace.

You are my maternal grandfather and I never had the honor of meeting you as you were killed before I was born. I am the oldest daughter of your daughter, Helen. I miss you!

Rest in peace Julian. Although we never knew each other, I had the honor of escorting your daughter at the California Peace Officers Memorial in 2003 when your name was finally added to the monument. God bless...
